Cleansing...What Up With That?

Well said Trisha! High Five We all have to do the work to find out why we have this relationship with food and drink and what triggers us to 'need' things that we know are not good for us.  Until we grow up and put our past behind us and examine what truly is in our hearts, we'll never start to gain control of what we are putting in our mouths.

Yes, it's true that eating sugar and starch triggers our craving for more sugar and starch, but what was it that made you eat the damned sugar and starch in the first place?  For me, both of my parents showed their love by feeding us.  So of course food became a source of love for me.  I had to learn to love myself and then I could finally get over needing food for comfort.  Besides, I can love me better than highly processed food and drink can anyday of the week!  Morph

yeah, as been said, it's in general a load of crap. However, I still believe in a type of fast: more a cleansing of the spirit. I think that once in a while we should give our gut a rest and drink herb tea for one day at the most, maybe a bit of fruit.

There are those that I read of more and more that herbs will cleanse out some of the toxin build up most of us likely have. I dunno. Most will not hurt you I don't guess, or it seems like the FDA would outlaw them toot sweet.

I saw Anderson Cooper (now there is someone I'd like to trip and beat to the floor!) and he had a toxin test - he had over 100 toxins in his blood - all environmental toxins from everywhere he'd ever lived. Fascinating, knowing that it is each person's constitution that makes the difference wheterh the toxins will aggravate or cause cancer or the like.

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not."   ~Mark Twain

Talking about toxins and cancer, my Daddy was in the army and served in Korea, Okinawa, and two tours in Vietnam.  He died of a rare brain tumor that is common in Asian countries.  Hmmmm?

Mary and the gang,

Having incorporated nutritional cleansing into my lifestyle for over two years, and as such both losing the fat I needed to lose and now maintaining that loss, I feel qualified to speak to this topic. If any of you (Jersey Girl) have also experienced true, scientifically proven, medically sound nutritional cleansing with no superior health benefits, feel free to post a counter-point.

Years ago, the world was clean. We had "real" food, water, and air. Not so much anymore. Our bodies are bombarded by poisons everywhere we go. At one time, our organs were able to detoxify on their own. We're overloaded now, however. Read the labels on your cleaning products, and even your bath and body products. Read the labels on the pre-packaged foods we consume. Read about chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides. Watch the trailer at www.foodmatters.tv  These poisons and impurities are stored in fat cells. This is not a scam, but rather fact proven through autopsy results. A couple of years ago, an acquaintance here in Bothell was sent to Eastern Washington to study the geese. (He is a wildlife biologist) An alarming number of female geese were dying during nesting season. These geese were in the areas where wheat is a major crop. He traveled there, with a team, and did extensive studies. The results? The pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers were found to be in high concentration in the fat cells of the geese. What do nesting geese live off of as they stay covering the eggs? Yes; fat reserves. The toxins, which were enrobed in fat cells, were released but not cleansed out of the system, and the geese did not survive.

I am walking proof that nutritional cleansing is not a scam, however you may see and read the stories of literally hundreds of people who have experienced this age-old health practice. This is not new technology. Down the street from our appliance store, a quiet man from Napal runs a little restaurant. He and his father were both physicians in Napal. We had a long talk one day about cleansing. It was the first course of action the two physicians (and many others of the country) employed when a patient came in complaining of a disorder. What disorder? ANY disorder. Headaches? Cleanse. Diarrhea? Cleanse. Constipation? Cleanse. They had to gather ingredients which contain the minerals that effect a cellular cleanse. Most of the time, Mohan said, they patients' issues were resolved.

My very dear friend, Rodney Bugg, attempted to lose 50 pounds for his daughter's wedding in 2006. Someone introduced him to nutritional cleansing. In six months he released 101 pounds. He not only maintained that loss, but is up to around 115 pounds released, and appears to be reversing the aging process. Meet Rodney at:
http://www.weightlosshalloffame.net/Individual%20Pages%20PDF %27s/BuggRodney.pdf

I speak with him on a regular basis.

How about Kim Olson? She is considered a poster child for nutritional cleansing. Having released half her body weight (152 pounds) six years ago, she appears to have had a total body lift, however no surgeon's knife has touched her body. How does she maintain this loss and increase her lean body mass year after year? She continues to keep these superior foods and cleansing minerals in her body. Is that a scam? Tell Kim it's a scam, and as soon as she's done laughing, she'll show you her before picture. Kim is one of the most gentle and humble people I have ever met. She still cries with gratitude for the gift of cleansing.

Why does cleansing do what it does? A couple of reasons. One, if you picture your fat cells as water balloons (you'll never lose the cells, only hope to empty them) and cleansing minerals to be little pins... you get the idea. It's absolutely necessary to drink adequate clean water while cleansing so that you flush the impurities from your system and don't go the way of the geese. One of the women to whom I introduced nutritional cleansing is a post lap-band who, in 4 years, has not been able to lose the final 50 pounds. She incorporated the shakes, but would NOT drink the water, so she ended up very ill and in the emergency room. If the minerals were not assisting her body in releasing impurities (aka scam) there would not have been this kind of reaction.

Can a person who is cleansing re-gain their weight? Of course. You still have a will, two hands, and a mouth. However, followed as written, a good nutritional cleansing system will allow the body to absorb needed nutrients, after flushing all 60 trillion cells, which (IMO) is the key to squashing unhealthy cravings. I relate it to changing the Jaguar's oil filter before adding high-performance fuel. You just get a smoother running engine. It makes practical, scientific, and medical sense. I say - seriously, don't knock it until you've tried it or at LEAST looked at it with an open mind.

Robin Maynard Dobbs, a certified eating disorders hypnotherapist, is working with me and has endorsed nutritional cleansing as a way to get the body into a healthy state and to jump start what is to be a lifetime of "mindful eating". Robin, with 17 years' experience in her field, did her due diligence prior to even considering putting her name behind such a recommendation. You may find her at www.awareeating.com

This is my passion, and everyone I love is well aware of their need to cleanse. My 38-week pregnant daughter, my two sons, my husband, sisters, brother, mother in law.... you bet. Their health is precious to me. And the little boy who will be born any day now, will have his first cleansing mineral filled shake taste well before he's able to speak.

Maybe hearing from a bunch of people who have found massive success would help you understand.

That is what I have to say on the subject of nutritional cleansing. I will be happy to tell you story after story of people in my life who have achieved both weight and health miracles as their body found balance. As you are doing your research about weight loss, keep this age-old, time proven and world-wide practice of nutritional cleansing in mind. Don't be angry that it's a good thing. It's okay. It may or may not be FOR you, but it's okay that it's good.

With all my respect and in the spirit of friendship,

Ruth
aka MomShap

PS: Kim Olson's before/after pics follow. Perhaps you can convince her, after enjoying 6 years of freedom, that she's wrong...

Working in the healthcare sciences, there is actually know scientific data that supports momshap's POV and the description of the "process" is medically inaccurate.  While some may lose weight on cleansing programs like Momshap sells, this is simply due to VLCDs and no other element.  I state this not to counter her Momshap personally, just the concept from a medical and scientific perspective.

"there is actually know scientific data that supports momshap's POV and the description of the "process" is medically inaccurate."

Here is a small list of "who's who" in nutritional cleansing. To say all of these professionals lack scientific data would be a highly ignorant statement. I promise, this is my last post on this issue, but check the caliber of people with whom I work.

VLCDs lead to short term weight loss at best, and loss of lean body tissue, malnutrition, and fat retention. Gotta do that due diligence, JG. Simply stated, you are against what has been practiced for centuries by cultures around the world. It's okay! Be against it, but let's have a discussion about what it is, which was the thread.

VLCD, for those of you who would have to look it up like I did, means Very Low Calorie Diet.

you caught a typo...woo hoo.  so what.

There is plenty that one can find on your experts to again counter their position in the community.

You have bought and sold the party line.  Shrug.  It's just marketing and nothing more

I've been extremely curious about cleansings.  In my readings I've been doing over the past several months it keeps getting mentioned.  Like Necee stated, mostly for spirtual reasons.  I was actally suprised to see this on here today becasue I've been serously thinking about doing more research on it.  For myself, not only spiritually, but I almost feel my body is calling for it.  I feel my body needs to be cleansed.  So I can see how it would be beneficial to some people.  The past few days my stomach has been hurting nonstop, so for me "right at this moment" I'm thinking about trying it out to see if I can get rid of all the toxins in my body because I literally feel icky.  That is why starting today until I know what I'm doing, I'm going on a "clean diet", as you can see in my food intake for the day.  I might be babbling here, lol  but I can see the good in cleasinig in several different ways other than just for fat loss.  I'm also wondering if it will work as a "tool" for better well being.  If that makes sense to anyone.  And I'm one that I'm about ready to research away! :)     I just noticed a little debate goin' on  so I'll have to reread everything since I just skimmed through it real fast..
