Abstinence - 245th Day
Thank you all for your kind and concerned responses to my sleep apnea problem. One of the ways mentioned to help your brain is to exercise, and my husband & I intend to do that next week, once he gets a new set of tennis shoes at Wal-Mart or K-Mart. He's had the current pair for 15 years - and they are literally falling apart! I keep shoes until they don't feel good to walk in, then guy new ones at Affordable Uniforms, where they sell Nurses Mates shoes for at least $40.00. I tried Wal-Mart & Payless, and got crappy shoes for the cheap price. I guess you get what you pay for.

I hope to be able to use a CPAP machine, too. The one the sleep doctor described to me only fits over your nose, which is fine with me, since I have claustrophobia, and couldn't stand one that covered my entire face. The doctor wants to get my husband in for a sleep study, as well, since he is over 300 pounds at 5 foot 8, snores loudly every night, has high blood pressure, and diabetes. He is taking medications for these, but he is in worse medical shape than I am. I have normal blood pressure and don't have diabetes. I did notice as I was laying in bed last night just how narrow my throat is, and how every time I felt I was dropping off to sleep, I suddenly would wake up. This happened around every thirty seconds. Since I took a sleeping pill (Ambien) last night, I finally fell into a deep sleep, and slept through until the alarm at 5:00 a.m. in the morning. During the day, though, especially in the morning with my first client from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., I felt sleepy (like I usually do). So I know that I didn't really sleep all that well, even with the sleeping pill.
