Hi there!!!!!  Always glad to know you are around, my friend. Sorry when you are feeling this low like you expressed in the calorie post! I love your spirit and feel very close to you.

I dunno if you caught my short post about running back to my bariatric doc, but yeah. i cannot do this by myself and I am learning to admit it out loud and act on that fact.

Just to remind you:  Obesity is a chronic disease. Chronic = ongoing management, and furthermore, the "cure" arguably does not exist.

I wonder if you are one of us fat peeps *****ally will need to resort to WLS.  Is the idea of the DS out for you?

My feeling is (and alla y'all jump on me here if you feel differently like that would not happen without me tellin you right LOL): once we get fat and the longer we stay fat, the deck is stacked against success.

Caveat:  Of course, i am not dum enuf to say something liek this in front of Mary/ruth/kimme/donna, it is not impossible, but let's face it, peeps, statistically those goddesses are the exception!

While I've told you before you need more "head work" on your food addiction/compulsion/obesssion, to be SURE, but WLS would help you maintain that "new car" rather than you constantly trying to fix this Old Hoopdi Mobile of a body you have!

whatcha think about that?

Hey Neece, you left out one of my all time heroes on this board...Em.  Now that girl is a perfect picture of sheer will and perserverance!  And even Em has problems some times with coping with maintenance, so I don't feel so all alone.

And I'm not opposed to weight loss surgery, some of my best peeps have had it.  I just think that it's for someone who is in really bad health and needs a quick path to healthy.  I don't think it's something to enter into lightly just to make you look better and should be a procedure of last resort after all else fails.  Just sayin'.

Yep, I'm still around.  Been getting slightly more active lately.

No, I missed your post about the doc.  The DS is still an option for me. I just finished making my last payment for the retarded program fee. Next I have to sit and wait for insurance approval and all that jazz.  Ultimately I think i'll end up spending about $13k to $15k out of pocket. I have to pay 50% of the costs. The surgeon will only cost me about $700, but the hospital stay is the kicker. :(

I am one of those that's going to have to resort to WLS. I"ve been trying to work on my head.  I have another psych appointment in early January. I've also got my thyroid in check and will be starting on my CPAP first of the year. It's not like I'm not trying to fix things yanno?  I can lose weight, albeit much slower than most.  That's not the problem.. I can't keep it off. If I have trouble maintaining a 25lb loss over one year then how in the hell will I ever maintain without some sort of intervention?

I tend to agree with you on the stacked deck.  There are those who can overcome it through sheer discipline and strength.  I don't want to be like that.  I don't want to be that strong. lol  Hope that makes sense.  I don't want to struggle with it so much.

So yes, in a tough economic time like this it's best to just trade the ole hoopty in on a newer model. :)
