Thanks, Mary.  I actually went on the Atkins site and read some tonight.  I might just give it a try in the New Year.  I agree....two weeks of induction wouldn't kill me and then I see you add the 5grams of carbs daily each week after that.  It sounds like something I could live with maybe.  It's one diet I've never tried, believe it or not!  I will definitely look into it more closely.

Want to hear something funny?  Just found "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution" in my bookcase....don't even remember buying it, but if it's a diet book....I've got it!!  Maybe it's a sign!

Well here's another 'sign'.  I personally think that the book you just found is the best authority on Atkins.  And the good doctor was so smart.  He was the first to preach about how bad trans fats were, way back in the seventies!

I'm reading once again too Sherrie.  Lol, we're always doing everything togetehr!  Even meeting out mates the same way!hehe  I have a stack on my desk that Ive been looking at.  Atkins isn't one of them though.  I did have it, but I bought it at a used store and it stank so I had to throw it out.  I've actually been thinking about going back to the book store looking at a few more books that I've ran into that looks interesting.

I'm in the process of reading the Sonoma Diet rigtt now.   Sort of reminds me of a combined SB and Carbohydrates Addiction (I know I just cruisifed that title).  I must say I have a hard time with the idea that you need to use the seven or nine inch plate.  And then theres the percentages.  I just don't get it.  I wish I did, but I don't.  Theres a few diets out there that do this and it drives me nuts.  How do you figure out 75% protien and 25% startches for example?  For some reason I have the heardest time figuring this out.  Three servings of protien vs one serving grain?  I'm confused on this.  But I do like the idea I can have my wine!  Not sure if it's the one for me, but it's interesting!

Agree 100%.

Sugars can hide and you have to be on the lookout.  My go to eating out dish is steak.  Well, my favourite steak restaurant...turns out there's sugar in the sauce on the steak.  ALways have to say no to the topping....

Anyway, be alert to be successful!

Hey Jerze, could you share the name of your favorite steak restaurant with us, so we'll know not to use their sauce topping.

At the risk of sounding very blonde I have to admit that I didn't know peanutbutter had suger in it...I thought it was just peanuts, salt and oil. Also, I've got some ceasar dressing that says it's 0 carbs. I've been counting it as 0 carbs. Should I be believing it??? What else should I not be doing that I'm doing, Oh Great Atkins Queen??
( I do appreciate it, just in case my sarcasm didn't transfer well)

Well if you had read the labels, Blondie, you would have known that peanut butter isn't even peanut butter!  It's a peanut butter 'spread'.  Which is another word for sugar and starch.

What kind of Ceasar dressing are you using because now that Kraft no longer makes carb free dressing, I'm looking for some.  Traditionally, most salad dressings didn't have sugar in them.  It's when they started to market them that they put the sugar in, so if it's sugar free, then's it's fine.

I love Ceasar salad...yum!  This from a woman who never ate salad before Atkins in her life.  Now I eat a salad everyday.

I do read labels! I just don't read past the nutrition facts where they tell me the total carb and dietary fiber amounts...    The dressing is Ken's Steak House Dressing, creamy caesar. I was searching the dressing aisle for the lowest carb dressing I could find, and it caught my eye cause right on the label it shouts "still 0g carbs per serving." But I just looked at the ingrediant list and sugar is the 14th ingrediant (out of 22) and listed under "contains 2% or less of:"  So, what should I count it as? It says on the nutrition lable 0g carbs, 0g sugars. Not  less than 1g like some say (so I KNOW there's carbs in 'em.)

When Atkins says read the labels, they mean the ingredients!  Your looking for hidden sugar and starch.  If it has sugar and starch in the ingredients, then it doesn't matter how many carbs or sugars it has in it, it's not on the Atkins Diet.  Now, once you get down far enough in the list of ingredients to 2% or less, that is not going to affect your blood sugar levels so it's cool.

I've never seen Ken's Steak House Dressing, but I am definitely going to track it down! People Watching Thanks,

Mary
