? Jan, Twilight here. I have a question for you about your Atkins program. (Note: I know almost nothing to nothing for sure, about Atkins.) What I have heard about it,is that you eat a lot of: fat, meat and vegetables. It looks that you are doing very well, on this program, but how is your cholesterol? LDL,HDL, and Triglycerides?
I myself can not eat like that, because my LDL and Triglycerides are up and my HDL is down. I ask because I
am curious, about Atkins. There are some people on OH that are on it. I want to understand a little bit of what you guys are talking about.
Yours: Twilight
Don't fear fat. Most who do keto diets properly not only lose weight, but improve their blood levels.
It's when they toy with Atkins that they may end up with poor blood levels (ie, not doing Atkins by the book).
Living on packaged or processed foods IMHO are often the culprit of elevated cholesterol, not living on healthy proteins and fats....
remember, Atkins when done by the book can look a lot like any healthy diet, sans the carbs. (My example today? 1/2 tbsp butter, 2 eggs, 2 chicken thighs, sesame seasoning, sesame oil, green veggies, prob chix or fish for dinner with veggies)

I found that I got headaches most often when I consumed lots of salty meats like ham, pepperoni, sausage, etc. I lived off of that stuff for the first two weeks. I would snack on pepperoni and every single time I ate more than 3 oz I got a headache. What types of foods are you eating? They could be the source.
I went through this, best thing i could tell you is to eat a lil more protien, snack on a few almonds, things like that, lil chicken, grab a bite of peanut butter, cheese thats allowed, see if that helps you may not be getting enough. and WATER! But its been a while since i was on the Atkins, but it does work if you can stick with it, Those headachs are terrible huh? Best of Luck Delilah!
Thank you for all of the support, and help to coupe with the headaches. Chris I have tried to make sure I am not eating meat with alot of sodium. I have been drinking alot of water the fast couple of days probably due to what sodium I have consumed, so I think its keeping me level. Thanks again everyone!
