Stacy: Twilight here. I would like to throw my two cents in: Here goes.
How do you function on only 800 calories a day? I know I am much larger then you, but come on. Depending on what doctor you see, even they wouldn't go below 1,000. Are you real sick, to be so low?
I am on a program of 1,200 calories to 1,500 calories. Yes I have taken it to 1,800 when I needed to. Did you know, if you do not eat enough, for yourself, that your body will go, into the starvation mode and will not shed the weight. It (the body) wants to stay alive. It needs fuel, to keep it running. Can you drive your car without enough fuel?? 1,200 would be better in my opinion for you, with exercise. I have been told you need the following:
(2) servings of dairy per day (1cup milk (skim or 1%) or 3/4 cup of nonfat yogurt)
(3 or more) servings of vegetables per day (1/2 cup cooked,1cup raw.)
(3-4) servings of fruit per day (1 small ( fit in the palm of your hand) raw or 1/2c canned fruit)
(5-6) servings of (bread/grains/cereal), per day
(4-6oz) of meat per day (chicken, turkey, fish(3-5 times a week for fish) beef(sparingly once a week)
(3) fat servings, per day. (try to keep the fat grams, to about 20-30 %
Note: find food with high fiber: ( like black beans, 7 or 9grams of fiber per 1/2 cup serving.)
Allow yourself about 100 calories per day for sugar free snacks like sugar free jello, chocolate pudding cup, or extra fruit, or even a small salad(lettuce is only 7calories per cup , tomatoes only about 15 calories per 1/2cup I think, 1 cup of broccli/or cauliflower is about 25 calories, use lemon juice for dressing about 1 tab or a little more if you wish .
FUEL THE TANK, SO IT CAN RUN PROPERLY, WITHOUT DAMAGING THE ENGINE.
I have given you my opinion, and what ever your doctor say; he is the law, I wish you well, and safe journey, on your trail, to your goal
