What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? w/ Exercise Question?

I know when I lost that hundred pounds I did fine until I reached about two hundred.  Then is when I had to start working out to lose ten more pounds before I hit 190 and gave in. :(  I was in starvation mode though, eating 500-800 calories a day.  So the pounds came back on fast, I was miserable.  But the exercise felt soooo good at that point.  I was so excited to be able to do it again without pain.  The ease of it compared to a 300 pounder trying to run on a treadmill  was wonderful!  This time around I think it's going to be even harder.  I'm getting a little older and my bodies not reacting to things as easily as it use too...so I'm not sure.  But I'm willing to wait and see! :)

Now Holl, in some circles that would be considered a 'bad attitude'.  But I personally totally understand where you are coming from!  I hate working out.  The only reason I did it was to lose weight, certainly not because I enjoyed it.

But you're right, with age, it mostly becomes mandatory if you are going to lose anything.  Life is soooooo not fair!

I'm proud to hear that you got over that 500-800 calorie a day diet!  I know BIRDS who eat more calories than that!

LOL Mar...your post brought back memoreis of me stomping our family washing in the bathtub way back when i did not have a car, no machine, talk about a funny looking rinse cyucle...and the spin cycle...fuggedaboudit. My fatass joggin in circles in the tub!  LOL

You raise that increasingly interesting point about how hard to work out. Ever since i read about adrenal fatigue, i am trying a new angle:  working out steadily, and doing intervals or bursts of faster, harder. I also want/need to stick to one day of long challenging workouts like hikes, bike rides where possible.

I can reflect back into period where I lost weight via WW and I know for sure that my body dropped more weight, more bang for my buck, when I watch what I ate like a hawk and hardly exercised.

I had already doen WW by following the program and working out like a demon as you describe. I lost the same amount, maybe less. I swear to GAWD I feel like a complete moron now to not catch onto that.

After all that, I guess i am somewhere in the middle. This past summer when the smoke was hanging in the air and for days on end I did very little, guess what? I gained zero. Yes, i watched my food, but was not suffering that much.

My proud yesterday? I sat my fatass DOWN after a small amount of supper and did not go into that goddam kitchen to pick.

Well geeze Neecee, how did you ever gain weight when you were a spin cycle?  Too Funny I would have paid good money to see that show!  And whatever happened to the good old washing machines like I had in my first apartment when I was eighteen.  The only maintenance that thing got was to slap some duct tape on the belt to 'reinforce' it so it wouldn't break!  Of course it used to go for walks on the back porch, but hey, that just gave it some personality. Cool

I don't know where I stand on exercise anymore.  I know we need it and that our bodies are machines that are made for movement, it's just as I'm getting older and have been there done that, and it helped me to get the weight off, but I've kinda lost my will to put in the effort.  I think my goal now is to maintain the muscle mass I have, and go to something 'reasonable'.  But I suppose I'll being doing kicks and squats up the yazoo until the day I die, cuz a fine ass must always be maintained, no?

Great job staying outta that kitchen after dinner.  That's a biggie and a half!

I stand that exercise - especially conditioning - is imperative, unless you are that sedentary and do not care to ever hike, walk, shop, clean the house.

Exercise makes me better at all these things - and of course other things way too numerous to mention!

And, hey, some bodies do indeed respond to heavy duty workouts. Mine is not one of those when it comes to scale numbers - but i know I look better b/c of my exercise efforts!  i know i feel better!
