I hear ya!  I'm forty but I tend to dress extremely young.  Probably way to young sometimes.  Wearing a 2x to 3x kills my wardrobe.  Sounds like you got good spirits! Yay you!! Hope you enjoyed your walk. :)

hi everyone, i am also new to this site, i am 27 years old and weigh approx 330lbs wow not even my hubbie knows how much i weigh

all my life i have had a weight problem. i have never been slim, even as a child, and for years i have tried different diets.

when i realised that after i had managed to lose a certain amount of weight and then would hit a brick wall i decided to go to my doctor and ask him to run some tests and ask him for some help or information.

i found out that due to my pcos (poly cystic ovary syndrome) the insulin in my body does not work properally, but that was it no more information or what to do.

(funnily though while i was pregnant on both my sons, i lost weight through the whole pregnancy and my diet was the same as always!!!!!!!!)

after trying more diets again at home and not succeeding i went back to my doctor and asked to be referred to a dietician, thank god i did. she was a wealth of information and explained to me why the insulin in my body is not working correctly and what foods to stay away from. (white bread, flour, some fruits etc)

i also found out i am calcium deficient.

anyway my reason for joining this thread is to ask you all for any tips or information you may have and to share how you are doing

i am at my heaviest weight i have ever been and if i dont do something now while i still can i dread to think where i will be in a few years

i have a long way to go and i would really appreciate any help, information or support you may have to offer

also my doctor has mentioned starting me on reductil to help me, have any of you ever used reductil??????

i look forward to hearing from you all and swapping stories, ideas, receipies etc and good luck to everyone in the same boat as me

xx

Hey Irish, welcome to the board!  Your story sounds like mine.  I have PCOS and am insulin resistant.  I'm not familiar with Reductil, but my doc put me on Metformin and I was able to lose my last forty pounds, combined with the Atkins diet.  It's the only diet I am able to lose weight on.  www.atkins.com

Before my PCOS was diagnosed, I gained a hundred pounds in one year.  That was back before they even knew what the syndrome was.  www.soulcysters.com
This site has some great information about PCOS and diets.  At the very least you need to be on a low carb diet.  And you need to remember to eat!  Eating every three or four hours keeps your insulin even and your metabolism, which for us practically doesn't exist, burning faster.

Welcome aboard,

Mary

Heck, sometimes I think chasin' kids is better.  I have four kids, 19, 17, 11, and 8.  My 11 year old is obese and the doc said the best thing to do for  hims is to do things WITH him.  I guess there has been studies it sticks with them longer if the whole family participates.  So good for you! :)

I agree that making your children aware of good (healthy) food is important. Mine kids love fruits and veggies, junk as well, but we would be human without a sweet tooth . I think my kids eat better than I did before I started eating more contious. I try and make sure they have a fruit, veggie and protein with every meal. I am JUST eating the same way!!! I grew up in a home with corn, and potato as our veggie. After I married my husband whoms family eats every kind of vegetable, which I did not know of 90% of them, my children were introduced to healthy eating. I am worried about them becoming obese because I am not very active and I do not want them to follow me. My 3rd old sees me snacking all the time and he always wants something or goes into the frig to get something. Good luck HollyRachel you are starting off good by setting a good example now.

Honestly, one day I just woke up and told my girlfriend that I'd had enougjh of being unhappy with the way I looked. We have become gym rats eversence and just can't get enough. We now eat much healthier and are also on various nutritional supplements. My girlfriend took a random fat-burner for a little while but said that it wasnt meeting her expectations. I helped her research some different options and we were finally able to find the right one. She tried it out for a few weeks and loved it soo much that now she has me taking them. I dont want post the name on the forum in case the're some rule against it but If you dont mind I'll shoot you an email with a link to the site. We are both so happy with the results that we've even gotten some of our friends on the waggon. Well I'm off to the gym now, by the way how often do you train, just remember that too much fun can become addicting.
Train hard. Eat well. Live happy.
