What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?

I'm proud that I haven't started the holiday early, Pilgrim Girl  like the REST of my family, who has junk up the whazoo everywhere!  My niece stopped by this morning on the way to nursing school to have me test her new recipe for banana cream pie that she made just for me cuz it's my favorite.  She's bringing it for Thanksgiving.  Why is it that people remember your old bad habits, but they don't remember that you aren't that person anymore?  She's seen me turn down just as much junk as she's ever seen me eat!  But according to her, it's just starting the holidays a little early.  I PROTEST!

So here's my resolution for Thanksgiving.  It's ONE DAY...Thursday. Turkey WaveI'm taking that day off of my plan and that's the only carbs I'm paying for!  As for the old way of thinking, you know, the one where you eat holiday goodies from now until the New Year...fuggetaboutit!  This former fat girl is so not going to go into the New Year feeling like a failure evva again!!!

Love ya'll and wishing the best on keeping the 'Traditional Holiday Gain' at bay.  Let's give ourselves a smaller dress size for Christmas!

Way to resist Mary!!   I used to say I couldn't diet this time of the year because you're SUPPOSED to eat....what a crock of ****. I could justify overeating/eating 'bad' foods all year round if I tried hard enough. This year what I want for Christmas is a smaller pants size!!! Heres' hopin Santa can find me that!!

I'm proud that I've resisted temptation for 12 days now, despite having a house full of sugery cereal, oatmeal, breads, pasta, rice, chicken nuggets and french frys (I have to feed my dd, she's 5) I can't wait till I weigh again on Monday! That makes all the cravings worth it!!

I feel you Sister about finding a reason to justify eating crap.  Back in the day it was..."I'm in a MOOD", "I'm so upset", "People are crazee", "The dog ate my homework"!  The holidays were the best reason EVER.  This is how nutz my family is...they celebrate a birthday WEEK of eating!  I agree with you...what a crock. Tongue Out 2

Woman, you need to get all of that junk outta your house!  You still have time to teach your young daughter how to eat healthy from the get go.  She doesn't need to be raised on high carb trash, she needs vegetables with those nuggets, not mac and cheese, and she needs fruit in her 'real' oatmeal not sugar.  She still young enough to think that healthy cereal is the best one to have and that french fries are for fat people.  That's what my niece tells her daughter!  Not only will it give your daughter a different mindset about food that you didn't have, it will keep all of that junk from calling your name.

Wow, 12 days already?  I can't wait for your next weigh in.  Now that I'm at the point that I don't lose anymore, I'm living vicariously through you and Neen's weight loss! Cool

Come on Santa, find Heather's pants! 3D Santa

Geeze, no wonder you got a li'l chubby if you were starting your holiday eating at the end of September.  That's the longest holiday season I've ever heard of!

Mar - I'm with you.  I'm proud that Thanksgiving is going to last for 24 hours and that's it.  I'm not going to make it a weekend thing.  I'm not going to scarf down the leftovers, I'm not going to make Friday, Saturday and Sunday Thanksgiving #2, #3, and #4.  I am going to go crazy on Thanksgiving (well, as much as my tight band will allow) but that's it!  One day and I'm done.  I'm dying for this break though.  Atkin's is a HARD diet!!

And Mar, I'll take a picture of my scale this Monday and post it for ya!!

LOL, Thanksgiving # 2,3,and 4!  I remember those days...the bloat was absolute misery, and we did it anyway.  What the hell were we thinking?

I know Atkins is hard Baby Girl, but I think you need to broaden your horizons.  I think it would be easier for you if you could cook.  And you are allowed to have more carbs yanno.  Have you looked at their recipes?  My favorite is my own recipe for Atkins Chili.  Yum.  And Taco Salad without the shell is the bomb.

Yay, Janina Monday is back! Thank You

Mary:
I usually eat a baked potato for Thanksgiving but I think a better idea is for you to send your niece and that banana cream pie my way.  I'll have that with chips and salsa for Thanksgiving and it will be the perfect meal.

I know you don't like traditional Thanksgiving food, Thanksgiving Dinner  but I'll be damned if chips and salsa just ain't wrong on soooooo many levels!  Could you at least MASH that baked potato for me to make me feel better about this situation.

My niece weighs a LOT.  She is a great baker and if she hung around with you, you'd be huge! Fat Woman 2

I haven't done anything to make myself feel proud , but have hopefully gained inspiration from all of you for the upcoming week!!

I am really struggling with my plan (which allows for holidays, birthdays, etc) and my carb up days have just seem to extended to day after day.  I'm not bingeing, but that old guilt is creeping back in and I swear it's as dangerous as eating a whole pecan pie!!

My birthday is Monday and going out to dinner tonight to celebrate and family having a party for me tomorrow night and then of course it's Thanksgiving too.  Thanksgiving was gonna be a "legal" cheat day on my plan if I ate accordingly prior to it (which of course I haven't).  Now I'm having that old feeling of "blowing it" and of course we all know what follows that...WTF, MIGHT AS WELL ENJOY MYSELF

I'm determined not to be in that mindset!  I know I'm not on plan, but am going to just eat small portions of what I am eating and try not to feel guilty about it.  One good thing is that my stomach has shrunk and it doesn't take much to make me feel full.  Gonna try to use that to my advantage and pay attention and not "stuff" myself.

I was supposed to start on Metformin (but didn't) after seeing the doctor a month ago and have a return appt. 1/8 for more bloodwork.  My A1C was 6.1 and I was determined to get it down on my own.  He's gonna go through the roof....who the hell makes a MD appt the week after the holidays anyway?

The choice is mine here....praying for the strength to make the right decisions!!

You all are very motivating though and I will continue to be accountable to what I'm eating everyday with Janina's "What did you eat today".  I find that really helps.
