Lor, all i can say is be easier on yourself, and stay off that scale for a while!!!!

Your body obviously has an issue, a scary one with this very odd flux of water retention/loss. I do not have a hint other than go to another doctor who can help you...keep looking if that is what it takes.

I think you are doing all you can here!!!!

Im agreeing with Neecee.

You fit into a 14! Im still like in jealousy mode. lol.

I cant even squeeze my chubby ass into a 14!  You look bangin no matter what that stupid scale says. :)

Take a break from stepping on it. Just do what you do, then maybe step on it after I dunno a few days or a week.

Shoot the dayem scale! :)

I feel your pain Lori.  Yanno, I just can't shake that your having the same problem I had when I lost a hundred pounds.  I might be totally wrong, and probably are.  But I just can't stop thinking about how much you normally eat.  Your body needs to eat lower calories than that in order for it to continue losing.  So if you eat one more tiny thing a pound or two comes on.  I'm really wondering if your in starvation mode.  This is all just a thought, but I'm having deja vou with how your eating and gaining.  This is how it happened to me when I was eating 500-800 calories a day.  Hopefully I'm wrong, but it's something you might want to investigate.

Have you ever gone over your food menu (like two weeks worth) with a bariatric doctor before?  That might be a doc to look into possibly.  He knows more about metabolism than anybody.

Geeze Lori, there are so many things that it could be it boggles the mind.  Did you ever go to see a nephrotic specailist.  I personally think it sounds like your diabetes is affecting your liver and kidneys.

this link had some great insight into the causes of all of this fluid retention.

OK, if I had to take an educated guess, I'd say 'Nephrotic Syndrome'.  But I ain't no doc...get thee to a Nephrotic Specialist woman!

Lori, I just got off the phone with my niece, who is in nursing school right now specializing in Geriatrics.  I was telling her some of your story and if she knew anything about Nephrotic Syndrome and she said she just finished a paper on dialysis for diabetics.  She said that if you even suspect you might have the slightest kidney problems you should not be on a high protein diet because if the kidneys aren't working properly, they can't break down the proteins.  Well, that's my interpretation of what she said!  Dang, she's technical.  She said until you get a diagnosis, you should be on a moderate to low protein diet, and drink lots of water.  And of course she said you need to see a specialist.  Duh!  She also said that she would need more information, what she said is based on the little I told her.

I just thought I'd pass that along.  I'm not sure it will do you any good, but it's a thought, no?

Thank you, Mary.

I went to my doctor ******g (no pun intended) and moaning about this in September.  He ran me through a bunch of blood tests and said my kidneys were fine so I could not get a referral to a nephrologist.   He can't explain why it's happening or tell me what to do about it though.

Scares the hell out of me though because my brother did hi fat/protein (he was following Atkins)and they ended up draining 140 lbs of fluid out of him just days before he died and the doctor told us he couldn't handle the proteins... that the diabetes had damaged his liver and kidneys to the point that he couldn't even handle medications... and his kidneys shut down beyond the point of even finding any benefit to dialysis.

My tests come out normal though .  My morning glucose readings are going up - which is annoying me too.

I carbed up yesterday.. and I'm going back to induction without the fluff until my protein shakes get here and I'm only gonna do that for 7 days.

I don't even CARE about longevity here.. quality is what I'm looking for and this is not quality.. this..yo yo fluid crap that keeps me having to dress like a vagabond.

I'll keep trying to suck down as much water as I can!

Thanks once again for going through the trouble of inquiring.  Haha.. I seem to get more information from you than my doctor lately... lemme tell ya!
