What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?

Well, right now I am too pumped up with pride that I can't even stand my own self!!!  I'm doing the 'Happy Turkey' dance as we speak. Turkey

I used to have an elliptical and the stride was too long for my sorry excuse for legs and I sold it.  I was going to get another one with a shorter stride for my stubby legs, but then I saw this really cool recumbent cycle online that has four interval training programs on it.  Plus the back of the seat reclines so I can use it as a weight bench, too.

Since my DH had his li'l accident, I decided that I can put this thing together all by masself.   Laughing 2  I mean the guys online said they did it in two to three hours.  No biggie right?  Well, obviously, they didn't have to stop and entertain company, cook supper, and get r done to post the Monday Proud post.  OK, so it took me three hours instead of two like I had hoped for, but guess what?  I DID IT!!!  That sucka is heaveeeee.  But I'm done and I'm so damned proud, now I just need a bandaid on my knuckle!

Good job Mary!!! I hate putting things like that together. I always end up with something not fitting right or too many parts left over...   That bike sounds really neat! Have fun riding!

Today I'm proud of the fact that I made it through my first week on Atkins, and lost 11.1 lbs! That made my day!

ELEVEN POUNDS? Shocked  That has to be some sort of Atkins record, no?  The most I've ever lost in one week was eight pounds...you knocked it out of the park girl!  That wouldn't have just made my day, it would have made my YEAR! Noisemaker 3 Congratulations,

Oh hail naw...I do not do that assemble stuff so well! That is what DH is for! I am now completely in awe of the Proud Mary! wowza!

Yesterday:  I took my walk in the dark after work, even though I did not want to with all my heart after a really bad day at work - 3 of 7 sites are very unhappy about a hiring that did not go like any of us (including me) thought it would go).  Lots of emotional phone calls, no time to talk to naybody in person...just sucky. Boy did i need that walk on so many levels.

Thanks Neecee, I'm kind of in awe of masself! Blushy 2

For me, doing man's work never came naturally.  I had three sisters and my Daddy was career military and hardly ever home.  If something needed doing around our house, someone was hired to do it.

But since I have been hanging around with DH and my two BILs, I've learned by helping them do things and it's like a whole new world opened up.  Now I know why they curse so much!  And who would have ever guessed I'd get a Bostitch finish nailer and compressor for my birthday a few years ago...and love it...girl got power tools!  In a way, it's empowering to know that I can do things that the big dawgs do! Wakka Wakka

Nice pushing yasself for your own sake!

Wah Whoooo!  You GOOOO!!!!!   I use to do all that stuff but I'm with neecee now... that's what da dh is for!!

What bike did you get? We got our ds a weight bench for his 14th b-day... soon as my back gets better... I'd like to try that out.

I can't say I'm real proud of ME just yet, I guess for staying ON the plan the last 2 days!?  I wasn't able to get on the eliptical as I'd hoped last night cause my back is really freakin killing me... HONESTLY... NOT an excuse... I can hardly move. Been downing heavy doses of ibuprofin and just patiently waiting to get the day over.

Tomorrow is a BRIGHTER day for me :)

Well Mama, that's what the proud post is all about, taking pride in the small everyday accomplishments.  We spend so much of our time feeling bad about our failures and I think it's better for our psyches to concentrate on the positive things that we are doing to work toward our goals.  So staying on plan for two days is a HUGE proud!   High Five

Girl, don't even think about getting on that elliptical until your back is totally healed.  There is nothing on it to support your spine, yanno?

That's one of the reasons I bought the recumbent cycle.  You sit down on a real seat with a back on it for support, and yet it still works your legs and buttocks like crazee.  It's a Schwinn 202 Recumbent Bike that Sears had on sale for $299 this weekend.  That thing is smooooothe!   And I love it that the pulse monitor is in the handles by the sides...how cool is that.  Geeze, it sounds like a commercial.  I guess you can tell I like it, no?

I hope your back feels better soon so you can get back to moving your bootay!

Mama!!!!   Keep in mind that yes, exercise is important, but it is only 10-20% of this equation. Getting your food back into your control is what is important at this time.

I have had intermittant back problems and knwo firsthand that it is best to do whatever you have to do - and it is usually lots of rest - to get my back right.

I also keep my back strong by doing crunches and strethces when it is in good shape.  I swear by it...knock on my wooden head...I have had no back pain since I have been more consistent with yoga and core strength training.

Be GOOD!

Thanks neecee and Mary, I am just really trying to baby the back right now. Can't sit at the comp long, can't sit ANYWHERE for long really. But the LAYING in bed is the REAL KILLER. If I move wrong, it actually takes my breath away :(  BUT... it DID seem a bit better this a.m. so I am hopeful things are looking up in that department :)

My goal today... staying ON POINT and DRINKING my water!!!

Thanks for the support and advice.... will look into the bike AND the crunches when I can get there :)
