I used to do Curves when we lived in Wenatchee. I loved the program, but the owner drove me batty!! She was the exercise nazi! One day she was clapping her hands at this poor 70-something woman who was using the ab machine, and saying "Faster! Faster! Faster!" The little lady finally looked up and said "I'm OLD!!!!" It was HILARIOUS.

Hubby and I just go to a pretty laid-back gym now. It's huge, has tons of equipment, but it's not intimidating or "meat market" type. You see every shape, size, and age there. I'm addicted to the elliptical stair stepper thing and since the girls on this forum are so ambitious, I've gotten up to 30 minutes on it now just to compete!!! Plus I'm working on the buns for Mary.

With Curves I would encourage you to go through the whole after-workout stretch routine. It's refreshing and I think it's really good for you. I still use it, at our gym.

i joined curves about 3 weeks ago. i had briefly stepped in and asked questions 2 or 3 years ago and it didn't look like something i would really like. but, my mom recently gave me the incentive of paying for it if i would do it so i looked into it again. they let me do a trial workout etc before i decided. i found out that it really is alot more of a workout than it seems to be and that i liked it. i only wi**** was closer to my house....i have to drive 20 min there and back and it can eat up the gas.

yanno, I have never been inside one. I always judged them - just not very much exercise.  However, these days, I find that less is more. I now try to do a variety of things, so this may be just what I need for my winter gig!

I may look into it! Keep us updated!
