What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?

I'm proud that I finally got to take a day off.  I tried to do it yesterday, but we had too much company and I ended up cooking and entertaining and cleaning.  Geeze, when we moved to the country I thought we wouldn't have so much company.  Thing is, all of our friends moved to the country, too!

But I needed a day off to reflect on my maintenance program and how it's working for me.  Except for no formal exercise, it's going well.  I get a lot of exercise doing yard work and house work and lately...man work!  And I must say, that spending some time on the board today and talking to some people who are just getting started on this journey has helped me to be proud of my journey.  This is a never ending story and it's a ride we'll never get off, but I promise that with practice and time, it does get easier and doing the right thing becomes a part of who you are.

I was watching 'Ruby' last night and it just totally broke my heart to see a 474 pound woman with diabetes eating cheesecake.  Everything in my being was screaming...DON'T DO IT!!!  Before all of this became second nature to me, I would have been thinking, oh, they are going to make her give that up.  Now, it doesn't bother me that I gave up cheesecake for a different lifestyle...and a life!

Keep working on making the right choices folks, the pay off in the end if phenomenal!!!

I'm proud I made it through the first day of my Atkins program!! I've been drinking a ton of water, and this evening has been super hard, because its when I do a lot of 'grazing' on carbs...but so far so good! I even attended a friends home and garden party tonight and resisted all her tempting carb loaded snacks. :-)
Hope I can keep this up! :-)

Woohoo You made it through the first day of Atkins!!!  That is a HUGE proud.  I know how hard that is, it seems like I've spent most of my adult life in ketosis!

Please know that it does get easier the longer you stay on the program and work the program.  After all of those years of craving carbs, I'm at the point that I would rather have the protein than the junk.  Not that I don't take time off occassionally, I'm on maintenance, but once I got used to feeling so good, I feel sluggish when I have sugar.

You CAN keep this up!  Thumbs Up

I'm proud that I actually got my sorry ass to the Y today for a water fitness class.  I think this instructor used to be a Marine drill sargeant!  What a workout!  It hurts to walk (and water exercise is supposed to be easier on the joints?), but guess I'll survive.

Feels good to know I made the effort.  Water was warm and it felt good to be able to move that much in the water without pain.....if I'd only not had to get back on land and fight gravity!

Well if it isn't our Little Mermaid! Mermaid

Glad to hear you come to life in the water.  It's a shame you can't stay in there, but then you'd be our Little Prune!

I'm proud that so far it's one in the afternoon and so far I've done laundry, did dishes, cleaned fridge, made my daily call to mom, put left overs in little portioned baggies to freeze them for myself, made some phone calls, and made myself a descent lunch so I won't splurge! :)  All while taking care of a sickly lil child that won't get better!  Starting to worry about the lil thing, she's not eating much or drinking much at ALL since Friday.

Now I have to clean up my dehydrator and going to dry some green onions.  Then start disinfecting this house for my daughter who is having surgery next Monday.  Any meal ideas for her?  Only thing I can think of is diluted juices, jello, and ice cream.

I also have to say this is such a great board.  I popped on another board and I instantly thought how much of a waste that board was.  I love this board!

Awwe, poor little thing.  But I hear it's a lot easier than it used to be.  Cold banana popsicles are the bomb when you have a sore throat.  That's my recommendation. Cool

Yep, we definitely have the most fun and caring board.  But this is the only one I'm ever on anymore so I may be just slightly prejudiced!

Give your little one a hug for us,

Poor baby....Mary's idea of popsicles is a good one too!  I'd be careful of the juices (even diluted)...the acid might irritate her throat.  Maybe diluted Crystal Light.  I had mine out at 6 and remember it was probably the only time in my life I had as much ice cream as I liked without the guilt!!  SAD
