okay have any of you ever experienced painful or tender spots on your thighs? I get this feeling every so often on my outer/upper thigh area that is like sensitive tingling pain, I also have some areas on my thigh that appear to be broken blood vessels, i have always thought that it was because I have so much excess weight in my thighs, does anyone know what I am talking about? thanks for your feed back!

Hi Chellelynn..

I've had some experience with that.  On my left thigh, on the outside, I have about a 9" area that feels as if the bone is going to just snap.. very tender all the time.  Other than that, I've had issues with my thighs going numb or getting very tender and sensitive.  It was also in my hips and my butt!  Much of it was due to neuropathy... are you experiencing that at all?

Not sure about that, I do know what you are talking about when you say like the bone is going to snap, especially if I have been walking for a long time, and the pain radiates to the groin area, do you have that too?

I dunno.. that snapping thing seems to be an issue all of its own.  I do get pain from a bulging disc that goes down from my butt.. around to groin, down inside of thigh to ankle.

I find that the pain eases with movement.  Also, I have a tendency to sit on my side and type on this computer.. putting a lot of pressure on the left side..  When I was up at around 300 lbs, this did some damage and even with a bunch of weight off, it's still an issue.

How's your blood sugar?  Maybe you could question your doctor about the possibility of neuropathy or joint damage or even a lower back problem.  Before I KNEW it was a disc, I thought I had a hip that was going.  I know there are medications that should help with neuropathy if it is that.. like Lyrica and off label use of neurontin and amitryptline.  I guess the first thing is to find where it's coming from.. then figgerin' out a way to fix it.  Most of my fixes came with weight loss/glucose control..  I'm actually starting to get pain and burning back in my feet and my legs now hurt instead of being numb so I know the nerves are starting to feel what they're supposed to be feeling.

Gotta start somewhere kiddo...  doc!!  :)

The only painful areas on my thighs are down around my knees from liposuction.  I don't have any answers for you but since your post stated "calling all ladies with large thighs", that applies to me so I thought I'd post.
I hope you find answers soon,
Kim

I have VERY large thighs (YUCK) and have never had the pain you're talking about.  Since you stated there appears to be broken blood vessels, I'm wondering if that could be the problem.  It might be worth it to talk to your PCP and see if he/she feels you should see a specialist.  Do you have diabetes?  The only other thing I could think of is as FL said, neuropathy.

I have that too and I have for years! My thighs are very big and if anyone leans on them the reaction for me is much worse than it would be for other people but I don't know why... If my dog is on my lap and hears a car in the driveway and jumps off quickly it is really painful, and I bruise like a peach too!

I just saw the dr. today, she did not seem to concerned, she had an X-ray taken to see if it is arthritis or an absess, she said it sounds muscular and the extra weight did not help  the situation. Well see if the X-ray reveals any thing, thanks for all your responses!
