What Did You Eat Today? 10/15
value me, hey if that works for you to eat that little, more power to ya. i know that Shari lost her pre-surgery weight eating just like that. I know I could not do it.
I always have to stick up just a little for the pyramid...the research behind it is too big to intelligently argue about.
It is a one-size-fits-all approach. It does not address how to eat if you have any health issues, like gluten intolerance or allergies or diabetes. That requires a little tweaking. And like most of us here realize, we are not going to lose much of we eat more than 3-4 servings of grains a day if that. A few of us have seen that nearly zero is what their bodies need. Maybe we were born like that, maybe we abused food too long and wrecked the way it processes food, I dunno.
The biggest problem is that the pyramid does not include "how to use" directions with it. When peeps read that 6-11 svgs of bread is allowed daily, the pyramid means that is for an active male.
So what happens is that most Americans really eat more like 10-20 svgs of grain group foods. One serving = 15 grams of flour/grain. The relationship to product labeling is nada. So understandably, when people eat one slice of most store bought bread, that equals more like 2.5 pyramid servings in one piece.
And as for OA, yup, kind of the same thing. There are 400#-ers who have been lifetime members, just like there are straight up drunks at AA. They are not using the program right, and let's face it, since it is a volunteer organization, one is subject to the people who attend the meetings.
I got very lucky, in my town there were group leaders who "got it" and did help those who stuck around and persisted on learning the principles. Both OA and AA have quietly helped millions of people who just prioritized the time and energy to do the program right - better odds than a private counselor i might add. If I heard that once, i heard it 1000x, that the group therapies with real people who did these things was 1000x more valuable than some private counselor.
There's good ones and bad ones, and i am sorry to hear you got shafted at OA.

Hello value me..tnx for starting the thread!
Yesterday was a good day food wise, tho i did need more fiberous foods:
1 green drink (spinach, apple cider, water) + 1 isogenix drink
nothing all morning, which is not great.
L: Boss day lunch for me! I choose 1 c mex soup w/ cheese + 1/4 c rice + 1/4 c chicken + 1/4 c beef + guac + salsa + ice tea + 1/2 piece pumkin roll
nothing all afternoon - not good.
Supper: 5 small scallops + 1 c spinach pasta + 1.5 c broccoli + 2 tsp mayo
just a little exercise - had a very bad night of sleep. But I did do my music lessons!
