The Power of One Good Habit
Last week I posted that I had ordered a "Power Kit" from a nutrionist named Zonya Foco called "The Power of One Good Habit". I received it on Saturday. WOW WOW WOW! It has a book called "Water with Lemon" which is a fiction novel. I believe it is the first weight loss fiction novel ever. It teaches the power of one good habit (actually there are EIGHT good habits, but you learn them and incorporate them into your life one at a time) in a fictional story setting, but after the habits are taught, the lady in the story then incorporates them into her life. It was an awesome book but an even better lesson. It DOES NOT have you counting calories or going on a "diet", just incorporating healthy eating into your daily life. The power kit comes with a dining out guide, a shopping guide, exercise DVD, cooking DVD, motivational tips, and a cookbook called "Lickety Split Meals". Believe me, I don't work for Zonya!!!! My doc (who wouldn't approve WLS for me right now) recommended it. I was considering South Beach, but this approach seems so much more logical and more for my lifestyle. She has a great website.....www.zonya.com. I would like to hear from anyone who has checked this out. Let me know what you think!
Thanks, that was very kind! I just posted on another thread that I have to get braces next week (at age 51!) so I'm hoping that will prevent me from overeating! I am just getting started, but I'm determined to get this weight off! Do you have any idea what a realistic weight loss schedule might be? I'd like to lose it a little slower, maybe 5 pounds a month, so that my skin might have a better chance of bouncing back. That will be 60 pounds a year. Then when I think harder about it, I'd really like to lose all 100 pounds in a year. Is the voice of experience out there anywhere? What are good goals to try for?
Well now, I've got all kinds of experience...The Good, the Bad and the Really Really UgLEE! Don't slap me for saying this, but you're 51. Easy for me to say cuz I'm 51, too. But here's the rub. The older you are, the harder it is for you to lose weight. Have you been through menopause, yet? That REALLY makes it hard even before you get started. And I'm going to make a prediction. You will lose a hundred pounds in a year if you go on the "Dirt and Grass Diet"! And be sure you take some fiber pills with that.
Five pounds a month is a lot more reasonable. But as far as preserving your skin elasticity, ummm....you're 51 remember? I don't see that happening either. I started on OH over on the plastic surgery board because I had so much hanging skin (see profile), and it took me six YEARS to lose my weight. So look at your skin now and imagine what it will look like if it were a balloon with the air out of it. I'm just sayin'.

OKOKOK!!! I get it! I realize I will have to lose it a little slower, but I can dream, can't I? Actually, the only time I ever lost weight I lost at a steady 2 pounds a week, losing 32 pounds until I got pnuemonia, then started a new job, and fell off and gained it all back plus some. I don't have a history of yo-yo dieting, unless you count the first week of a diet when I might lose a few pounds. This is my second week, and it started out bad, but the last couple of days have been really good. I am already planning on tummy and arm skin removal when I lose it all.
