What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?

I'm proud that today, I finally had my first lymphatic massage...I say first cuz I can't wait til the next one, that was a li'l slice o' heaven!  I had an anchor cut incision done with my tummy tuck and even after five months, it still swells badly by the afternoon and I end up looking pregnant. Pregnant Smiley Not exactly the look I was going for.  The masseuse said that when you have incisions in your midsection, lymphatic fluid has a hard time passing through the scar tissue and causes swelling.  Plus I have edema from my hormone imbalance, so hopefully, I'll be flushing out some of this fluid soon.  I have to drink a lot of water tonight.  I know where I'll be! Bathroom

Any massage sounds like heaven to me!!

I'm proud cause I took the day to spend with my mother.  Gorgeous autumnal day here....sunny, 70, loads of gorgeous color of fall foliage.  We went to one of her favorite restaurants about an hour and half away and she thoroughly enjoyed the time away and with her darling daughter (ME!!).  I don't do that often enough (we can be like oil and water) and heaven knows how many more days like that we may have together....she's 84 and failing.

Just had a disturbing thought....days like that should be the norm, not one I have to feel proud about!

Well Sherrie, when it's an oil and water kinda relationship, you SHOULD be proud that you are putting in the effort to spend time with her, we all know it ain't easy!

Like with my Grandmother.  Everybody thought she was just the sweetest old lady and I'd tell them, she was a ***** when she was young and now she's just an OLD *****!  Of course SHE never knew I felt that way.  I was very good to her and my Mother.

Girl, I'm jealous of your weather and your trees. Raking Leaves Here in the deep deep deep South, you wouldn't even know it was Autumn.

yup, sherrie, i so feel you on this subject.  Some time ago,* i* withdrew from the oil & water thing going on with my mom. If you don't help create that battleground...there ain't no battle. Sounds like you did that too.

I want to look back on my mom's last days and know i did the right thing. I would hate to know that my decisions and mouth  kept things all stinky. I'd rather get a taste of what Heaven is like - yanno...where it's all good, back to the way we should be with each other.

Just the connection...the love...all that other stuff matters for naught.

I can identify with you, Sherrie. My mom was very... difficult. And I treasure those last few days I had with her.

My sister and I laughed about the fact that she was so much more enjoyable when she became unable to talk. It was sadly funny. But you have to laugh, you know?

I'll take a massage!!!

It's weird, Mary...I read about the wonders of massage therapy and til now, I always kinda filed it under "pure bull****". Just being all Midwestern and such, we've had with the snake oil sales.

Nut now I realize there is a lot to that. I think maybe many obese folks might benefit from glandular stimulations as you describe!

My day's proud? I jogged, then came home and did ball crunching, some yoga and prayed for all of us during these scary times. And said thank you over and over.  i am truly some of the luckier folks who got on the raft before it tipped this bad.

I vow to help all i can with the blessings i have received.

T-Neece, I had never even heard of lymphatic massage until my plastic surgeon recommended it.  But this masseuse sure did know a lot about the lymph system.  Your heart pumps your blood, but the lymph system only has movement to pump the fluid and who knew that scar tissue gets in it's way.  Plus after all of the surgery that I have had, she said my lymph system is probably in SHOCK!

You can do ball crunches?  I've always admired people who can do work on a ball.  I'm pretty balanced, just not when it comes too a ball.

I'm glad to hear you are on the raft.  I moved to higher ground years ago.  But you are right, this is some scary stuff.

One pound...good for you my SoulCyster!  Cuz with that evil PCOS, one pound gone means you are one pound closer to picking out colors for a nursery. Cool

Glad to hear you are so 'well adjusted'!

My health coach talks about using the trampoline to achieve some lymphatic activity to help with draining fluid. Something about the bouncing effect causing the lymph nodes to open and close... I don't understand the science, but it seems to work. Massage is also highly effective, but we're supposed to bounce and shake, too. Of course, fine girls like Mary got the whole bounce and shake thing down, right?
