Well now Monkey, you can't go by my weight loss because mine was all over the place.  It took me six years of pure hell, remember?  I spent most of my time in PCOS Pergatory.

The most I ever lost was six pounds and I SLOWLY added back very little carb at the time.  I got stuck again, but at least I got to keep off the six pounds.

Let me ask you a question.  With the PCOS comes insulin resistance, but not diabetes, unless you don't treat it.  But my doc put me on Metformin ( a diabetic medicine that helps your cells absorb insulin ) and I lost forty pounds in four months and kept it off.  I got to wear I couldn't tolerate it anymore, but I'm wondering if you should give it a try. It's one the only diabetes medicines that makes you lose instead of gain.  Whatcha think?

Mary

Edited to say, Glucophage and Metformin are the same thing.  And I stayed on the fast for three days.

I started on metformin - I didn't tolerate it well.  In fact, I'd spend all night.. ALL night in the potty with terrible pain.  I went next to a combination therapy of avandia and glipizide.  My a1c increased.  I was moved then to 15 units of novolog (short insulin needle) before meals and 30 units of Lantus....   still no control.  Then the lantus was split into a morning and evening dose, and 20 units of Novolog before I put anything in my mouth.  LOL  So.. coffee, snacks, meals....  I was forever with a needle in my belly.  THEN.. LOL  (there's more)  I added 10 units of Symlin to the novolog and Lantus..    still .. no control.

My father was type I.. no control and skinny as a toothpick.  My brother was an uncontrolled type II and at his worst, about 640 lbs.  I did a lof of thinking about both of them...  and my super skinny type I uncles.  Their pancreas (the type I's) were not working.  Because of my weight gain I had to assume my pancreas was still working to some degree..  I was definitely having an insulin response, but it couldn't deliver the glucose into the beta cells (which were.. for lack of a better word "broken").  I figured if I ditched anything which caused an insulin response, and got rid of all that free floating insulin.. it would help.. and it did.  (Which is probably why my brother was over 600 lbs.. his pancreas was working, his beta cells were broken).

ok.. so I'm in NO meds mode after having more success just going super low carb (and I still have a liver, heart and kidneys).

6 lbs.. 3 days. :(
I'm up from yesterday.

Oh man, that sucks that you couldn't tolerate the glucophage.  They now have a time released formula and I'm thinking about trying that one.  I did mine in conjunction with Atkins.

You still have your liver, heart and kidneys...who was threatening to take them away from you? Hmm

Sorry....  the diabetes.. uncontrolled.  In my family, seems to be kidneys and heart first.  There's a window to get it under control before the glucose ravages internal organs.    I wanted to be IN control AND lose weight.. it's been a 10 year roller coaster.

Ps.. was on the XL .  If my bs doesn't regulate again on it's own.. I guess I start from square 1.

Good Lawd, no wonder you're working your butt off to get this under control, NOW!

I hope you get the chance to give it a good case of whoop ass,

Tool belts, heels, sexy buttocks, it just keeps gettin' better around here.

Girly roar.

I'm proud that I had my soup and then made DH and DD a nice stir fry for their dinner. I had an IsaLean tomato soup with basil and spinach in it, and boy howdee was it yum diddly umptious.

Tomorrow and Wednesday are cleanse days, so that was my "last supper" until breakfast Thursday.

Shazam!

I'm proud of Lori, too, little soldier plugging away at her goal like a champ. I stand and applaud.

The only thing is, my butt isn't toasted! Tanning Bed

You go girl!  I know having to cook different meals is a pain, but it's one of the hallmarks of weight loss and maintenance.  We're 'special', no?  And soooooo worth it!

Yeppers. The dual meal thing is a good investment in me. You. You know. And if I fed DH the way I require being fed, he'd turn into a little bitty skinny dude-oid with no man sweat or muscles. Example: he drinks 2 shakes a day plus eats three full meals plus snacks. TO MAINTAIN. On a cleanse like I'm doing the next two days, he'd lose up to 9 lbs. I will dump about 5. Men.  The good part of this is right now I hear him doing the dishes. Heh heh heh. Awesome man. Here's a picture of him attempting to pose with a shocked look as I photo his fine self in the shower. Remember; he's almost 55. Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
