What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?
I NEVER felt like a coward. I was in pain and useless.. big difference. I am what I am and if someone wants to pass judgment on me, that's THEIR problem.. not mine! :) We all tend to do what works for us as individuals, whether others like it or NOT.
Caution! Don't overtrain!!! LOL I tend to do that and had to back down to 2 hours for 3 days a week for 2 weeks. It was HELL trying to keep myself from getitng up and leaving every morning.
I've been showered and ready since 7.. but had to do the do with Jon's breakfast, lunch and snacks and had to wash my workout clothes. I'm waiting for them to dry, then I'm outtie for my first hour of cardio. Later on I'll hit it for training. from 5 - 6 cardio.. 6 - 7 weights.
Woke up today at 217... tsk tsk.. just last week I wa****ting 205.. oh well.. Doc on Friday.
Glad your soup came out nice... I enjoy a good soup.. in fact, I'm having that chickie veggie soup leftover for lunch this afternoon. I had a hamburger patty for breakfast... and I have some lovely chicken thighs I made last night for dinner tonight since I have a late workout. Otherwise, Jon won't get his dinner until bedtime! LOL
Good luck in the sale of your business... I hope it goes quick and you get your price and you don't get stuck for a year training the new owners!

My huge thing in the past couple of weeks has been to just move
more....I have a sit down job all day and two weeks ago when the weather turned beautiful here in the DC area...I just decided I had enough of sitting...so I juggled my lunch break around...and even though now I end up eating lunch alone cause its later...I also use half my lunch to walk around the building and the other half to eat. And I'm on a good roll with my Jenny Craig program and back into my losing phase 3-5 pounds a week....so moving is really helping. I know there will be setbacks (fast food and junk food--who invented Halloween and thanksgiving and Christmas back to back anyhow??? lol) but I notice the more little postive changes I make, even a ten min. walk around the building is beneficial (who says you HAVE to do a one-two hour solid workout every day--who can really keep that up in the long run...and its about the long run isn't it? what you can do now and sustain it in the future?)so I dont think the word 'just' before any exercise is helpful.....I am going to stop justing...and 'do' lol Every little thing helps us move in a forward positive direction!
Even 'just' a few minutes!!

You are SO right!!! There's no such thing as "just" 15 minute.. "just" a walk around the block..... it sure is a walk that one has probably not taken before so it means EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
For a lot of people... maintaining a heavy work out schedule is very difficult unless it's built into your everyday life.
Take Neecee for instance.. her exercise is such enjoyment.. especially the biking. I WISH I could do that! I'd be afraid of falling on my butt! "Help.. I've fallen and I can't get up".
It's especially hard for those who work full time.... when I was running my stores.. I'd have to hit the gym at 5:00am to meet my trainer and it totally kicked my ass. I couldn't do it for more than a few months and just pooped out and gave up completely.
I was just reading an article which claimed that one needs at least an hour, but then conceded that any program that's impossible to maintain is just going to lead to complete failure.
I'm so happy you're finding success with your program!!!!! :)
God Bless!

Hi Lori...good to 'see' you again!! You know I used to be obsessed (in my thinner days) of getting at least an hour of working out every day..7 days/week. I would shoot for more too...and I started realizing I was trading one addiction/obsession for another...although exercising is better than stuffing my face...but I did realize that I couldn't keep it up. I am sitting here watching Biggest Loser which I love so much...these people working sooooooooo hard sans surgery...the show inspires me (and I bawl like a baby at least once a week if not more lol) but I also know that they are working out 6 hours a day w/a trianer too while they are on campus...plus most if their food is prepared by a chef....I could lose like that too if all I had to focus on was working out and nothing else.....but the thing I am realizng now...after about 20 years of yo-yoing....and usually gaining back more...is to do something I know I can live with....and after falling in love with the Jenny Craig program and the food ( i love the stuff and know I can eat that and other healthy foods on a regular basis and its reallly training me to 'see' what is the healthy portions) after doing every thing from WW to LA Weight Loss to Medifast to you name it.....and I do about 20-40 cardio a day and about 10-20 with my weight bands, abs ball and hand weights.....and even though I know I'll need to shake up my exercise and do some other things etc but I also know this is a realistic amount I can do for the rest of my life. And I think thats the key...find something that you know you can stick too...not something that you'll stop after so many months...cause thats when it all seems to come back on! And well what can I say? I'm a slow learner LOL so after all these years of 'experimenting' with all sorts of 'diets'...and workouts etc. I just figured out what feels right for me. You just keep on tryin til you find it!!! And then watch the pounds move of your body...for me now, I am never really hungry, feel more energy and happy with the choice of not having surgery...I watch my GFs lose a ton a month...but I always have figured it out that I can't compete with them...their tummies are less than half the size of mine....so they will drop it faster...but....I will get to the same goal...just take a little longer thats all...and its been an amazing choice for me....a great strength came out of this decision too. So hey, if you can't maintain an hour a day....'just' anything is better than nothing!! :) Take Care sweetie....chloe
To be honest, I don't know how much exercise really helps. I do between 2 and 3 hours a day.. and nada... no loss. .. and I'm not talking an hour of throwing the bs with other people there and lolligaggin' through the rest. I'm solid.. I'll walk in and do the nods.... a quick hello.. then I put my earbuds in so I don't hear anyone and they know that I won't have intereference while I'm doing my do.
I do know that it's strengthened my heart and increased my lung capacity and function and I guess that's what I shoot for.

Well its kinda like the elections....you're going to hear everyone say what they do is best-vote for me :) but I really think any eating program or exercise program should be our own personal choice. I always enjoy hearing about what others do...maybe get some insight or tips etc. but when it comes down to it...we find what works for us and do it. I used to do 2 hours a day working out, sometimes 3...but for me personally, I couldnt keep that up...not with my schedule...and frankly the sleep is equally as important for losing weight....no sleep, no weight loss...it eats away at my metabolism....so now I sqeeze in about 30-60 a day and have been able to not only keep it up but I have been losing too. Sometimes we can do too much...and become addicted to too much exercise too...it can be one of those fine lines..I have a friend who does three hours a day and is obsessed about it...to the point where she is always talking about her gym, her workouts, and while eating something she'll be figuring outloud how much she'll have to workout to burn it off. And after a while we all just want to say STOP THE MADNESS lol....but you find something YOU like and keep it up!!!
