What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?
Sometimes "quality" is way more important than "quantity".
No... NOW I'm in a "middle" area where I can do most things... pain or no pain, I can still do them! I can BREATHEEEEeeeeeeeee.. I can huff and puff and blow this darned house down if I don't like the paint job! LMAO .. or I can simply repaint it! I LOVE being able to move now so no... I don't wait for death...........I'm enjoying what I can do here in this life, knowing that the next life will be so much better, but trying to respect this second chance that God has given me in this flesh. I've seen more movies in the theater in the last six months than I have seen in 20 years! I gotta live to see Ghost Town! LOL (was too sick to go Sunday).. lolol
Andrew was shaking his head at me last night as we were upstairs.. I was doing seated shoulder presses with free weights. He reminded me that 6 months ago I looked at those stairs in complete terror and said "NO WAY". Now.. I just follow him up without thinking about it! Also, he'd take me to dark corners to work out where I didn't have to face the mirror and I was out of view of most people there. I may not be skinny.. and I may not be pretty.. but little by little I'm getting some self respect because I'm TRYING MY BEST - and I can walk with my head up instead of down. I could work right in the damned middle of the joint and I don't care who's looking anymore! MAJOR DIFFERENCE!
Baby steps... I'm all into baby steps for anyone who is feeling horribly about themselves. Some people can function at 325 lbs. Me, I coudln't do **** and who the hell wants to live like that. I was laying around just WAITING and HOPING and PRAYING I'd kick the bucket and stop being a burden and an embarrassment to my family. What makes it worse is when you know that you did it to yourself and there IS a way out.... it's just a matter of finding it.
Emotionally.... I feel like doing cartwheels most of the time now. BIG difference!
It's almost like we are afraid to get "deep" around here sometimes. The emotional devastation of being super morbidly obese sometimes is FAR worse than the actual physical condition.
Now.. when I look around the gym and I see really big people doing what they can.. my heart just aches for them.. literally.. I have to turn away so I don't cry. I know what they're feeling. Yanno?

Lori....I am speechless. I have never been so touched by anyone's story before. Talk about God having a plan for us....he knew which path he wanted for you. It just proves once again what a determined, stubborn, strong willed lady you are. Heaven help anyone who stands in your way once you make up your mind. You have given us all inspiration that there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Ever think of going into motivational speaking? I'm serious!!

No.. not motivational speaking.. but hopefully one day I'll be able to witness to others who feel the way I have felt.
It breaks my heart that my brother died at over 600 lbs... feeling the same way I have felt a few years after he passed.. and I couldn't do anything for him. The suffering.. the pain.. the way he was treated by the medical profession... they made him die like a dog and he was such a good man with a heart that I've never seen matched. Just because we're big doesn't mean we don't have feelings....
Besides the strength from the Lord himself, it was the hearbreak of seeing my brother die in such misery.. and the fact that he WANTED to die is what inspired me to either let it go and die as he did.. or do something about it.
I lost the love of my lfie because I didn't know enough to help him help himself.... and that's a guilt I have to live with, but at the same time, honor his memory and his wishes that I do something about my own health.

Guess I didn't realize that about your brother....I'm so sorry. I think you did witness to others tonight....you'll probably never know those who were given hope by what you shared tonight. Like you said...BABY STEPS is what it's all about. I know I am certainly looking at my situation from a new perspective.
You have such a caring heart, Lori.

hey, Mary, 30 minutes is not exactly dozing off!!!!! Good for you, under the cir****tances.
My day: recovering from extreme mountain bike riding (ok, fat old lady style) I was also plum tuckered.
I did 15 minutes before work and 25 minutes after, so I'se proud a*****h!

Lori,
You deserve many kudos for posting what you did. Your story will be an encouragement to anyone *****ads it. You might have felt like a coward at the time, but the outcome is awesome, and will continue to be awesome.
Sweat, girl, sweat.
I'm gonna go sweat now. I didn't feel so proud of myself yesterday, although I did get 181 emails sent regarding a bonus incentive for my business (keep your fingers crossed) and mailed out 14 information packs. We put our store up for sale officially yesterday. OH I PRAY that it sells in less than the 9 month national average.
Yesterday I was proud of how good the soup turned out.
Off to the gym - I do 15 minutes on the elliptical! If I did an hour I think I'd pass away for sure, in a little puddle. I start my day with a shake, 20 oz of water, and then hit the gym. In the "what did you eat today" section I'll have to tell you how brave I was with this shake today. Ha ha ha. Lori has inspired me to bump my gym days up to 4 a week. Let's see if I can pull THAT one off.
Ruth
