BJ's, Sam's, or Costco, baby.  Buy in bulk and freeze your meats.  Lean away from the expensive low-carb goodies and keep it simple.

My best food budget ideas are the same for all food plans:  make up a weekly menu based on sale items in the newspaper or at your store. Then make up a list only for the recipes/items on the menu.

This works for a couple reasons: you will not be as subject to impulse buying by saving trips to the store and you only buy in-season items on sale!

My family eats better when I take the time to write out a menu - and the best part - all of the ingredients are ready at my home.

Eggs.. good source of cheap protein

whole chicken cut up

Chicken thighs are cheap... get a lot for your money

I only do a good steak once every two weeks...

bags of frozen fajita style strips for like 8 bucks.. get several meals out of that.

It seems the peppers are costing me more than anything right now.
