Bren,

You certainly don't need more rain!   I was supposed to head your way tonight to attend my Great Aunt's funeral but we aren't going to leave with the storm coming.  I have family in Lafayette and Scott.  My mother grew up in Opelousas.

Thanks for the kind words.  We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Keeping an eye on all this and hope everyone stays safe. Kimmie, I do hope you have a small camp stove - DH and I have one that uses can canisters of propane - good to boil water, make coffee, heat up soup and stuff. Even a little sterno set up would help get you by with a bit of hot food!

Probably too late just now to run get one, but maybe next time. Stay safe....I know you will be fine. I was raised in Illinois - tornado country!

Hey Nee:
I wish I was in California right now.
I don't have a camp stove but my range is gas so it should work?  I just hope the electricity doesn't stay off for too long!
It hasn't started raining yet.....it's eerily clear and calm right now.
I'll be touch soon,
Kimmie

Hey Stacy:
Thanks for the compliment!  The wind is STRONG and the storm hasn't even come ashore yet.  Some electricity is already out in the city but mine is still on.
I need to put more details on my profile about how I lost my weight 'cuz people send me pm's asking me.  Basically I just ate healthy - sort of low carb - but not like these Atkins freaks (just joking....maybe) on the board.  Good lord, I don't know how they do it!  I also exercised every day (and still do when I'm not recovering from surgery).
I weighed close to 300 pounds when I started - I didn't really weigh at my heaviest but I think I was somewhere around 280.
You guys take care and I'll be back when I can,
Kim

We are experiencing strong winds but no rain or loss of power yet.  A friend of mine had a tree fall on her house around 7:00pm (before the strong winds began).  No one was hurt but they did have some roof damage.    It's skeery!

Kim ,Sharon and Bren I hope you all are ok. On TV I saw the Hurricane make land fall and even though we never met I thought of all of you and was hoping for the best.  Having been through 3 of them in 2 years I know what they can do to your home and your stress level.  We all hope to hear from you soon.  Your all in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, Amanda.  Your thoughts and prayers worked for me.
I'm A-okay!  We didn't get it bad here in Lafayette.

I see that Kim is okay, but haven't heard from Sharon yet.

Hope they make out alright.  I have a feeling power will be weeks to come.  Houston is such a large city to provide for all.

Let's just pray that Josephine doesn't come back to life!!!!!

Bren  Good to hear from you and to hear  you are ok.   Good to know Kim is ok too.  Yes it is going to take weeks to get the electricity back on.   I saw on our News tonight that we have sent FPL truck down there to help as I am sure many other Cities and States have done.

Hi All---

We came through the storm with limbs down and a general mess.  We regained power late this afternoon.  My mom lives two miles away and got a huge tree on her roof and it punctured a few holes but everyone is safe so there are no worries.   Hope everyone else is doing well. I never thought I would say "I'm happy to be able to vacuum and use the washing machine!"    Big thanks to the people working hard to restore the power to our area.  I definitely would not have made a good pioneer woman!

Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes.
