Medifast--Anyone ever done it??

Just curious about it.  The Weight Management Center in my area uses it for patients who choose the non-surgical route for weight loss.

Thanks for any info you can share.

I'm not doing a pro or con here.... I'll just tell that I've done it.. and yes I lost every ounce that I wanted to lose, but at some point I had to start eating again and I gained it all back plus like 20 lbs..  OH.. this was when medi-fast was all liquid and you could only get it from a doctor while showing up weekly for B12 shots.

I've also done it and lost 100 pounds on it.  Ya know, it wracked havoc on my body.  But at the same time I wouldn't have changed the experience for nothing.  I think it's a great way to lose, but you just have to use it right.  I believe eating some form of food every day, like a REGULAR dinner, would be fine!  I just don't believe anyone should go all liquid for long periods of time because well....it's hard!  Plus it makes maintenance almost impossible.  The statistics are so against you when you do it like that, but as a supplement for the day time or even a few meals...heck ya!   I'm still considering it.

Thanks for sharing.  I have a friend considering Medifast.   I've always heard most people put all the weight back on when they start eating real food.

Yea, it's really hard.  That is why I think eating other foods with it wouldn't be so bad.  It's not teaching you anything going cold turkey on just bars and liquid!

Wishing your friend luck!

Thanks for your comments.  She was hoping to have RNY but her insurance won't approve her so she's looking for other alternatives.

Hi everyone! My name is Amy Bennett. I am a certified Health Advisor for TAKE SHAPE FOR LIFE! We are the somewhat new SUPPORT SYSTEM for the Medifast program. I support my clients on a version of the Medifast Plan called the 5 and 1 plan! My services are provided FREE along with access to our entire bio-network of support tools. The 5 & 1 Plan allows you to eat 5 Medifast meals(now more variety including soups and bars and more) and one Lean & Green meal.(5-7 ozs lean meat of your choice and  2 cups of veggies), plus snacks. We offer individualized plans and/or modified versions of the 5 & 1 plan to accomodate your specific needs. Our program allows direct access to the Medical Director and creator of TSFL , Dr. Wayne Andersen,as well as Nurse's and Nutritionists. We also have a transition plan(which I personally guide you through step by step) and a maintenance plan to help you maintain your weight loss. This support system is comprehensive and very effective. Our goal is to get  America HEALTHY 1 person at a time! I would be happy to share more info with anyone interested.

I've seen they have changed it to the five and one plan online.  I use to be on it about seven years ago?!?! and lost a 100 pounds.  So  I'm really curious how this five and one plan changed the program, maybe you can answer them.

1.  How fast is the weight loss now that they have changed it.  Not saying faster is better, but curious of how it's going to effect me differently.

2.   How long is your transition period after you get close to goal? And after your done with transition or maintenance is there anyone to talk too when your having trouble again??

3.  What is the percentage of people actually succeeding after your transition using the 5 and 1 plan?

Yo yoing is bad...period.  Not only for me on this web site, but I think everyone would like to know.  Most of us have yo yoed numerous times and after a while it REALLY effects a persons body and HEALTH.  So this is extremely important to me.  I for one can't afford another yo yo.

Hi! Thanks for asking! The 5 & 1 Plan allows you to lose about 3-5 lbs. per week.  The weight loss is quick and safe. You are not depriving your body of protein, carbs, vitamins, or minerals. Because you are getting the proper balance of proteins and carbs you maintain and support healthy musscle tissue and bodily functions. The transition period is based on how much weight you lose. (Ranging from approx. 8-12 weeks)Transition takes you from week to week by adding back foods slowly, increasing activity, and decreasing Medifast products being used. We support you through the weight loss phase, the transition phase, the maintenance phase and beyond.  You will have personal access to all of the support tools even if you stop using the products. We are hear to provide all the support you may need which is why we have so many outlets for support. We help link all the people on the program to each other and to the type of support they prefer. You can contact me or any other support outlet as often as needed. We have over a million people maintaining their weightloss. I could provide a website which shows some of those people. My business partner is one of them-she's maintained her success for 6 years now.(TAKE SHAPE FOR LIFE  was created 6 years ago) Yes, yo yoing has a tremendous effect on your body and health. We commit to you to help you commit to maintaining the positive results you get by utilizing the program. I hope I answered your questions. If not, please ask again-I'm happy to cover any/all questions!
