P.S.:  I know my abstinence is lousy right now, but I have alot on my mind.  I am changing my food plan next week in an effort to get back to eating 1400 calories a day, like my family doctor recommends.  I've been keeping track on Fitday.com, and I'm eating over 2,000 calories a day, which is totally unacceptable.

Hi there, I am new to this forum, but I think it is really great.

I don't mean to overstep in any way, but would it be easier to go fomr your current calories to like 1750 instead of all the way down to 1400?  Since that is what your dr is telling you, maybe a slower, more systematic transition would make it a more successful one.

Again - please accept my apologies if I have spoken out of turn.

Good luck!

Erin
You can do it!

Thank you for your suggestion.  I was doing fine before November 2007, having lost 28 pounds on 1600 calories, fully satisfied with my food plan, when my doctor had to mess it up, wanting me to lose weight faster, and told me to go to 1400 calories.  I also got a really nasty client who got me fired from a company I'd worked for for 8-1/2 years, and that completely ruined my abstinence.

Since then, I've allowed myself to be influenced by my brother as well, who believes that the vegan diet is the only healthy diet, leaving out all dairy, eggs, and animal protein.  But my husband doesn't believe in it, and this created problems for my cooking.  I'd like to go back to what I had before November 2007, but I found out that I have an allergy to milk, and have to stay with a milk alternative, either soy milk or rice milk, etc.

My brother insisted I read the book The China Study, where a man does his best to convince the reader that animal protein, dairy products, and eggs are really bad for your health.  I bought into this, and now I feel like I've been brainwashed against meat in particular.

I'd like to go back to my meat-based 1600 calorie food plan, and just stick with that.  I was once happy with that, until my doctor got in a hurry for me to lose faster.  She's overweight herself, so I don't feel she's any great example for me.  I think I'll go back to my menu plans before November 2007, and see what I was eating then, and pick up that food plan, which I had formerly been successful on.

I've become very unhappy and confused because of my doctor's demand that I lose weight faster.  I need to get back to what I was doing before, when I was content with my food plan.  The hell with my doctor!

Thanks for your concern and suggestions,
