OT ~ Where Would You Live?
Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
Sparkling, clear blue water. It's a shade of blue you never see anywhere. Walks on the beach at 6am collecting shells, and a gentle swim where the sea turtles spash as they go by, and the little fish nibble at your toes. White sand, dotted with perfect shells and smooth rocks. Locals who welcome you and extend such hospitality that you feel like you're home and on a vacation at the same time.
I already picked out my condo.
But it's not acceptable to live in paradise all year, because I'd miss the grandkids. So, once we're independently wealthy, we'll share the condo with 3 other families. During the rest of the year I'll stay in Bothell, Washington, and laugh in the rain!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I Adore St. Thomas! My grandmother owned a home in Puerto Rico and when we would go for the summer, we would go island hopping in the Virgin Islands, and St. Thomas was one of my favorites. Your right about tha****er. I once had an aquamarine ring that was that color. Just beautiful.
I hope you become independently wealthy soon so you can invite your friends on the board to visit you in St. Thomas! Hint hint.

Hi Mary!!!!!
Back from Vegas and cruising the board. WELLL, to answer your intersting Q, I THOUGHT I lived in my dream place - until this summer with all these damnable fires. I really love all these awesome mountains to hike and clear deep lakes/rivers to swim in!
But, with money as no object, I'd have to agree with Kimmie - I'd take anywhere on the Cali coast from Carmel to San Diego! Malibu is pretty freakin gorgeous.
CLOSE second has to be Oregon coast, I prefer Florence to Astoria area.
Yeah, Kimmie, after being an inland/flatlander most of my life, no WAY would I get bored walking the beach every day. I have become a beach rock collector in my old age. I've not gotten bored once living in California in general. Too many exremely awesome places to explore within a few hours drive.
Mary, i highly recommend the Eugene, Oregon area as a pretty safe, moderate place to live. As you say, nowhere is 100% safe! Eugene is a college town, near gorgeous wild rivers and not far fromt he awesome oregon coast.

Funny you should mention Oregon. I have a friend who lives in McMinville, Oregon and she is always talking about how beautiful it is there and how the weather is always so nice. Apparently, it's in a valley so they don't have freezing cold temperatures often and they have hot weather for about two weeks. Sounds like heaven!
She went to visit a friend in Texas this summer and almost died from the heat and humidity. She couldn't WAIT to get back to the Great Pacific Northwest!

Funny you mentioned Oregon, because that is probably where I'll end up. Possibly Washington, but I'm thinking Oregon. I also have relatives in Eugene. There scattered everywhere, my family is like rabbits. hehe I would LOVE to move some where around Sea Side. I don't know how it looks now, but I use to love going there about twenty years ago.I can't wait to get out of here!
