Here's my dilemna.
I know it's a good start but... Even if I lose 50% of my weight I will still be in bad shape. Is it even possible to lose that kind of weight without WLS?! You just don't hear about anyone doing that.
I could use any advice or encouragement.
Here's my question for you. What differences are you seeing with 10% of your total body weight off of you?
Google up Manuel Uribe when you have a chance..... he has lost more than you currently weigh in 2 years without surgical intervention. There are many others but he is noted for being the heaviest man in Guinness and is working now for the record of losing the most weight. I LOVE this dude! I am utterly inspired by this man.
I'm 5'6" and at my highest weight was about 325 lbs in August of last year. I'm not at my goal but I gotta tell ya... LIFE SURELY GOT ONE WHOLE HELL OF A LOT BETTER when I hit 265. All of a sudden, doors opened for me. At that point I had lost approximately 20% of my total body weight and the difference in how I FELT was unbelievable. 20% of my total body weight was the difference between using a walker to get to the bathroom and actually walking through my own property for the first time on my own steam.
20%
How do you think life will be different for you at half of your current weight? How do you think your health would be improved at half of your current weight? Are you imagining some pretty great things? I hope so because it's THAT good! It's WORTH the effort!! Being "in shape" is a relative ideal. What kind of shape are you in right now? What's your bp? Your heartrate? Lung capacity? A1C? Lipids? Imagine the improvements in those markers with 20%, 30%, 40% of your current weight off? You'd be in GREAT shape with 50% of your body weight off... and you don't have to stop there!
Do it.... just go for it and don't think for a second that you'll be in "bad shape" when you get there.. just enjoy the changes in how you feel on your way!
God be with you!!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I know it seems overwhelming when you have a lot to lose but just take it one day...or one meal....or one minute at a time. Don't beat yourself up for mistakes or indiscretions, keep your eye on the prize and celebrate your successes!
You can do it!
