Is This for Pre Op
Just curious...
I'm doing my 6 month supervised diet (doing WW) and I'm on month 2 now. My first official WW week ended yesterday and I weigh in tonight. I swear if I haven't lost I'm going to go insane. I think I've eaten an entire victory garden of carrots, greenbeans, grapes, watermellon, peppers...
I had a Dairy Queen Dilly bar on Friday and I swear to *** I made love to the dang thing. Oooh it was so good to be so bad. and it was so worth the 5 points too.
Pre diet I would have made love to the box :-(
I just need a place to vent
I'm doing the 6 month supervised diet right now although I haven't decided 100% if I'm going to pursue surgery when I'm done. I'm on month two of a South Beach type diet and lost 16 pounds the first month. So far this month (I'm one week into it), I haven't lost another pound. I'm trying to stay focused and add more excercise to get out of this short term plateau.
I'm hoping to stay motivated and continue to lose steadily so in six months I won't even be thinking about surgery. My thyroid meds have been adjusted and are finally working again and this low carb diet is allowing me to be successful eventhough I'm insulin resistant. For the first time in 10 years, I feel like I can do this!
Dilly bars sound sooo good. My favorite treat right now is No Sugar Added coffee ice cream with a tablespoon of sugar free hot fudge on top.
Good luck to you!
I get the idea this forum is a "catch all" for non-surgery related things. Many people who have WLS have additional weight to take off, and do it through nutrition and exercise. I have two friends who are both post op, both YEARS out, who needed help with those last pounds even years later. One dropped 10lbs in a week... but anyway. This is the place to discuss pretty much anything but surgery, it seems. I don't know that all of us who have not had surgery are "anti" surgery. That would be my position, should I be forced to answer a survey, but I know I don't speak for any majority on this site.
For the most part, all opinions are accepted well on this forum. I've had my particular scientifically sound practice "dismissed" by at least one person as a "hoax", however since I'm living proof as are literally hundreds of others, that sort of comment makes me smile. Ignorance is simply ignorance, and not a willful attack on a person. I find it interesting to read how each person is structuring their own life to get in control of their weight and health.
I just had my breakfast shake. Many pre and post-ops feel protein shakes are some kind of punishment or necessary evil. They are my life line. But mine aren't some heat processed garbage from WalMart. Still, so much of a stigma hangs over replacing a meal with something whipped up in a blender. I figure; if I can get this much amazing nutrition with a 30 second routine, hallelujah bring it on! I love discussing the meals I get to enjoy each day, and how I prepare them. I love reading about the meals others on this board prepare for themselves and their families.
Thankfully, we've got a grandchild who will be born in this house and will get an excellent start in her (or his?) life nutritionally. Now that Grandma understands nutrition better, this child will face a much healthier life. Snacking on Gerber cookies? Eating sugar-filled baby food? Starting life with grains? Not this baby.
One of my best friends, and a business partner of mine, is a certified health coach. Having coached hundreds of people to health after he conquered a life-threatening illness with NUTRITION, he has earned the right to give his opinion!
I drink 100 oz of purified water daily. I drink 1 - 2 (sometimes more, just depends!) undenatured whey protein shakes a day. I have good, healthy knife and fork meals, and practice nutritional cleansing.

Welcome to the non-op board.
I happened upon this board in a round about way. After having lost 120 pounds by eating healthy and working out, I embarked on an extensive body reconstruction and was introduced to OH by my plastic surgeon's office. While hanging out on the plastic surgery board on OH, I was introduced to the non-op board by the hilarious, FABULOUS Mary and I tell ya, it has been helpful in keeping me on the maintenance track (and in fact I've lost 10 more pounds in the past few weeks).
Lot's of cool, helpful people on this board.
We're glad to have you join us!
