Guys, do you think I should go on Atkins again? That's what I did for my pre-surgery diet and it worked like a charm.  What do you think?

If you like Atkins I don't see why you shouldn't give it another shot. Unless there is some kind of requirement that you can't being that you have a band. Did you ever get another fill? I know you were thinking about it, but I don't remember seeing an outcome.

B: steel cut oats, flax, and blueberries

L: veg. chili over tons of spinach, oz of soy cheese, and almonds

D: veggie soup, salad with fruit toppings, and larabar for dessert.

Hey Holly - no, never got the fill.  I went to my nutritionist instead and she said I needed to just exercise.  So, no fill for me.  I'm eating way under my calories (max I should eat for maintaining is 2,300 calories a day and I'm averaging between 1300-1600 a day).  So I think I'm going to try Atkin's again.  My best friend lost 100 pounds on it and he's really happy.

How about trying South Beach?  It's like Atkin's the first couple of weeks but then you can have a bigger variety of foods.   South Beach is working well for me.   I'm down 15 pounds in 4 weeks eating 5-6 small meals for a total of 1600 calories a day.  


B:  SlimFast Low Carb chocolate shake  (170)
S:  6 large shrimp (45)
L:  fajita chicken salad with a drizzle of tequila-lime dressing (350) 
S:  Sugar free fudgsicle (40)

L: 1 peach, 2/3c red grapes, serving pistachios, 20oz Sierra Mist
D: big and tasty burger, small fries (McD's)
S: 5 iced oatmeal cookies, 3 chocolate chip cookies,1 pepsi, 1 orange

Exercise: 1/3 mile walk

I'd do it, Janina...... Atkins may be what your body responds to overall.  Hey... with the way you've been struggling.. even WITH the band in place.. it can't hurt to try something different.  You can do it, Girlie girl.


Today.
2 whole eggs w/2egg whites and 2 servings of mexican 4 cheese

2 slices of turkey w/2 slices of provolone

about 6 ounces of this things I made:
85/15 ground beef in a pan with peppers, onions and garlic, 1 can of diced tomatoes (too many carbs but I eat around 'em) and chili powder.  This is all topped with that 4 cheese mexican.
It's pretty darned good too.

Also like 6 bottles of water
2 cups of coffee

exercise:  45 minutes eliptical warm up - 60 minutes of hard weight training, 30 minutes of eliptical .... then I went  back for another 30 minutes of treadmill.

I'm with you chicky.  I ordered some atkin's shakes (breakfast) online.  As soon as they come, I'm on board.

(scarface accent).. you don need no stinkin' frankenfoods!  Some of them are more carb laden than they let on.  Just remember that you can always go to REAL food and it would probably be better for ya.  Have at them eggies in the morning... a nice salad with turkey in it in the afternoon.. cheese and nuts for snacks... lots of dark greens.

I did something called Pro Cal many, many moons ago.. it was a shake or you could make a pudding out of it.  I lost the weight, I surely did, but it's hard to socialize when everyone else is eating those chicken wings I made and I'm eating a fake chocolate pudding!  LOL  I like the "real" of Atkins.  No?

How's the exercise coming along?

B:  1 egg, 3 whites done in microwave (yuck...like scrambled better with salsa
      2 slices Ezekial sesame toast
      1 Tbsp butter
L:  4 oz 98% FF turkey breast
      1 slice RF swiss
      sliced tomatoes and cucumbers
S:  1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese
      2 Tbsp SF jelly
D:  HUGE salad with romaine, cucumbers, mushrooms, radishes, red onion, tomatoes
      5oz grilled chicken breast sliced on top
      EVOO& balsamic vinegar dressing
      6 spears steamed asparagus

Carb Down day....1 starch before 3PM
