So every so often I write a post even though I am avid reader and feel like I know you gals.  I am surgical...blush...more than three years out if that matters and feel like my surgery is a thing of the past hence is why I come to this board.  All is well still following the South Beach plan for life and it really works post op three years.  High Protein good carbs but know what ladies reguardless it really is all about moving our asses,  when I exercise I am good when I don't I am not.  I think of you all daily, wish you well and know that what ever boat we choose it will make the river  on the same route.

I agree that exercise is key especially weight training (building muscle).  It's what keeps me sane and at my desired weight.

Hey Matilda, I just posted about how hard it is for me to like working out, but I do it anyway.  For me it's like cleaning the toilet.  I hate to do it but you can't not do it!

Well you can hire someone else to clean the toilet.

Nah uh...no way!  I clean my own home ever since I walked in on the cleaning lady using the dirty toilet as mop water.  I still have that image in my head.

Did I mention I'm the Lysol Queen?

I've been doing tons of research on why post-op'ers gain their weight back. (I was considering surgery, myself.) The number one reason is that they go back to their pre-surgery eating habits. The number two reason is lack of activity or exercise.

I commend you on being 3+ years out AND successful!!

I think people contemplating WLS need to understand that WLS is pretty good at getting substantial initial weightloss results, but that if you don't get to goal in the first year to 18 months or are needing to maintain, you're going to have to figure out a lifelong plan for weightloss/maintenance which needs to include both diet and exercise.

Hope you have an AWESOME day!!

well, matilda, yes i would have to agree on the importance of exercise, especially as that river goes on down the land to maintenance. Without exercise, the chances of keeping it off go down dramatically.

And it does not have to be going crazy, step aerobics, hours on end of weights...just regular consistent movement is all it takes.

I think that however weight is lost, the bottom line of living in maintenance is as difficult as the weight loss itself - maybe harder? I should know, I've lost most of my excess weight several times, and it comes back the second I take my eyes off my ways.

very sweet post you wrote us! I think of all of you too, more than you might think. Strangers, maybe, but sisters & brothers of the heart.
