Kudos on the 8/8 menu. I hope you're doing a bunch more water between meals too! If not only overcoming compulsive overeating, but weight loss is also a goal, it seems to me you may be short on protein and vegetables. You want that awesome thing called "muscle" to get in there and do some of your work for you...

Congratulations on turning your life around.

Dear Ruth:

Thank you for your concern.  I am on a managing your diabetes food plan, with 1400 calories total.  I got this plan from my family doctor, and originally, I was on 1600 calories.  I slowly lost 28 pounds, before I lost my abstinence from having a difficult client to deal with.  This client eventually ended up getting me fired, after manipulating me into cheating on my husband.  There was no love involved in our relationship,  just me and the client trying to control each other's behavior.  He was complimenting me all over the place, and also sexually harassing me by being terribly seductive, as well.  I was into my codependent people pleasing skills, and went overboard trying to please this man.  I felt so conflicted inside, because I believed at the time that I was in love with this guy, but I wasn't, I was just infatuated with him, and addicted to his seductive behavior towards me.

He got me fired because I would not leave my husband to marry him, and ultimately, take care of him, for life.  He is a blind, partially paralyzed epileptic and cripple.  I ate over this, and ended up gaining back some of my weight.  Now I finally am back on track, and it was very difficult to get my abstinence back again.

On my 1400 calorie food plan, I can have six servings of carbs, several servings of vegetables, three fruits, two dairy, and 4 oz. of protein a day.  That's why my protein seems so small - it is supposed to be that way.
