what does this mean??

 i have anthem bc/bs .. i just read in my books that they will pay for weight loss surgery if it is medically necessary? and that means???

I have bc/bs of Louisiana (don't know what anthem means) , and last year I WAS going to have weight loss surgery.  I had to have a BMI of I think 49 or more, have tried several diets in the past and failed, plus you have to have physical ailments.

You might try calling bc to see what YOUR requirements would be.

  Ummm something to think about I have a bmi just a little higher than 49... so i think i will put in a call to bc/bs.. ty

Around my area, the bmi only has to be at 40. If under 40 bmi, it can be approved if there are what is called co-morbidities (diabetes, heart disease, etc)

Make sure to read on all other boards before deciding!

i have anthem bc/bs in NC. i was told bypass was covered, no required BMI for it. if i wanted a lapband tho my BMI had to be below a certain point.
