OT: Never knew I could run that fast through the woods with a loaded .38!
Yanno that cat that's on my profile.... the background.. that big one. Well.. he's dead.
I came home from the gym.. pulled up and there were two dogs on my property. I tried to shoo them away but they were really friendly and kept coming up to me. So I tied one up and called animal control. Animal control only answers their phones until 1:30. So I untied it and shooed them away (they sauntered off into my woods). I heard the little kittens inside the house screaming (the way kittens do), and I went to look for Loki. I looked out the back bay window and there he was...................... dead.
I got the gun, loaded it and headed out into the woods and there was one of 'em just laying there... but I guess I was too far and too upset cause I missed when I shot at him and I can't even FIND the other one. I looked all through the woods and even took my car all up and down these country roads to try to find these Mutha f*ckers. All I found was a loose horse walking down the road.
I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PISSED....... that was my cat.. and they killed it....... Time for me to buy a shotgun.. next time I WON'T MISS!

I'm so sorry, Lori....how long had you had your kitty? They're like one of the family, I know. I could understand coyotes, but dogs? Is your kitty used to being outside?
Boy...remind me not to **** you off! (just had to add that) LOL

I'm normally not a violent person but I was having dreams of fighting all night.
I've had him for about 8 years. I got him when he was just a baby - he was supposed to be the "shop" cat, but he was so darned cute that I took him home. He started off being my daughter's cat, but he spent most of his time with me. As a matter of fact, she just moved out and left him here with me because she felt I was more attached to him than she was.
He's been going outside for years and up here it was like a little heaven to him. He's a big boy, so he can hardly get out of his own way. Basically he would hang out on his cat condo out on the back deck...... or lay under a bush just a few feet away from the deck (which is where I found him).
Those dogs had no business on my property. My cat never left it!
I can't remember the last time I felt so frantic.. which is probably why I missed when I shot at one of 'em. After I gave up looking I unloaded the bullets and dumped them on Jon's bed along with the gun, but he reloaded it with fresh ammo and put it somewhere easy to get to near the door. I'm all cut up from the brush in those woods.... wild how ya don't even feel it when it's happening.
It's not really like anyone gives a sh*t about some old cat, right? But it was MY cat.... the only thing I had left. I guess my affect is all wrong.. but I am so PISSED!

I would be too...except I'd probably be gunning for the owners!
I went looking. The people on one side have a german shepherd fenced in. The people on the other side have dogs, but again, fenced in.
Jon thinks they are wild dogs but since when do wild dogs come up to ya wagging their tails!
Here's the kicker.. when they wouldn't leave my property at first (before I saw my dead cat), I called animal control and they don't answer calls after 1:30 in the afternoon... can you believe this sh*t! There's NOTHING BUT ANIMALS all over the place.
Once I had a stray cow come up my driveway and as I was looking for the dogs yesterday, I happened across a stray horse! One would think that animal control is a full time job around here.

wow..not sure what I was going to find inside this post! 1st off, glad it was not Jon you were after! LOL
I know in CA it is legal to shoot dogs on your (outside city limits) property if they are pestering your animals. I imagine most states are like that.
I think Animal Control does not come out very often, they would not have done squat for you anyway!
That's awful. I'm sorry about your baby.

Jon said it's legal here too.. for a moment I hesitated but he said SHOOT THE B*STARDS, I'M ON MY WAY". Guess he loved that cat as much as I did but didn't want to admit it. Loki had a weight problem and Jon always called him "Fat Ass"... I guess he meant it affectionately (gee.. glad he doesn't use that term with me.. even affectionately!) He was forever on the scale!
Florida has the 3 step rule. It has to take 3 actions to fire a gun. So, in a zipper case, in the glove compartment, with the safety on is 3 steps.
Yanno, animal control was always out and about when I lived in NJ... same in Florida.. they're always picking up gators and turtles and cranes and stray dogs and cats - here, they have a recorded message saying to call back again. WTF? I guess that's the price ya pay for living in a rural community. I hear shotguns going off all the time around here.. my little .38 was just a pop compared to them...... what's bothering me is that I never fired it in anger and that was an anger I haven't felt in a very long time.
I'm going to Florida tomorrow morning. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday (hope he throws me some ludes. lemme tell ya .. YA right!... AS IF). Jon is coming with me.. we're packing the van with Jessi's stuff to bring to her as well as the two new kittens I got when I got home from NJ & Iowa. I hate to give them up, but she wants them and she is living on 5 acres right on the Myakka river.. it's gorgeous. It'll be better for them than have to worry about them here.
I guess I've been conditioning myself pretty good cause I MOVED through those woods! 100 lbs ago I would have just sat back panicked, unable to DO anything at all. I don't know what kind of consolation that's supposed to be............ so now that my daughter has moved, I'm in the kind of physical condition I would need to be in to protect her? Just a little too late.
What WOULD life be without this drama..... oh.. peaceful.. that's right!
