Just an idea...We are all trying to lose weight..heres something that I do..before I eat my dinner or lunch..I always drink a cup of water..8oz..i dont measure it but have a good idea what a cup looks like..i've been measuring my food and stuff..

So anyways, theres you guys an idea if you aren't already doing it..it gives you that full feeling...and you end up eating less! I will drink a cup before i even sit in front of my plate to eat...i will have a glass of water with my dinner..and i will usually end up having another glass after i eat dinner..so try it and see if it works for you!!

Funny you mentioned this because I use to do something similar to that, and I just remembered about it and began to do it again just this past week. After my breakfast and first cup of coffee I drink at LEAST 80 oz of lemon water. That big WW cup with the big straw is amazing to drink tons of water. I can chug down 32 oz within no time at all when I use this mug. I won't let myself drink any more coffee or eat lunch until that is finished. I find I actually continue drinking water more often later on during the day. Think I just have to be reminded on how much I love lemon water! And then of course the added benefit of being full!

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. For me....I've been realizing I'm addicted to diets...period. I'm totally obsessed with diet plans and reading about them. Of course eating the foods goes along with it! :) But I've also noticed the more I obsess with foods and diets the more I tend to never stick on them because theres always a new one around the corner. Make sense?  My husband is even starting to dream about diet plans..lol, that is how much I talk about them.  I have realized I'm living around diet plans and books!

I've been trying to remember things that I did when I lost weight before, my attitude, my mindset, and what I really did other than the drinks. It's really plain and simple, just don't eat!lol I'm really trying to get back in that mind frame. Of course you need to eat, but I want to get back to EATING TO LIVE, NOT LIVING TO EAT!

DON'T sit down to eat unless you are HUNGRY, and PUSH yourself away from the table when you are SATISFIED. I think most of us are really never that hungry most of the time. I did great with this before, between massive water and just eating when really "needing" to eat I think will do the trick. I know this isn't for everyone, but we tend to forget we only need to eat to survive.

Got to stop the obsession!

Holly,
I know exactly what you are saying about all the diets and reading about them. You do hear about a new one all the time..or it may not be new..but new to us! And thats what i have done..i've changed my attitude..i'm not letting food control my life..I have realized I have been so much happier..I havent gotten the bloated feeling in I dont know when..and i'm more motivated. I dont know I just feel totally different then what I did before i started watching my calories. And the thing is..I'm not reading about another diet out there.

You don't have to go on a diet..its moderation!! What I have been doing..If we are having say...chicken nuggets..if the serving is 4...then i only sit and eat 4! I count out 4 for everyone. I measure out everything. So i'm not dieting.. I am doing what I was suppose to be doing the whole entire time and just havent! Like you said.its just pushing yourself away from the table.. I eat until my stomach isnt growling..when I am done I leave the table..and if there is food leftover...i put it away right away!! Or I will use it to make my husbands lunch for the next day! what i have figured out..and its simple..

Out of sight...out of mind...

I WISH I had been this smart to have taught my kids about portions sizes. SMART you. It really is a habit that we get into - how much food to eat at one sitting. It is much better to eat small amounts more often than teach ourselves to gorge at one sit down.

I have a friend who's son lost over 100lb by just eating per "serving size".  He ate anything he wanted, but not more than what was considered 1 serving.  He swears by this method and has never put the weight back on.

I think Americans in particular are so "super sized" in our eating habits that we've lost total concept of the feelings of hunger or satiety.

Good point!

Sherrie,
You are so right!! We all have lost the concept of what a serving even is. Tonight i measured out the mashed potatoes and when I seen what the serving was..i was a bit shocked..before i was probably having 3 or 4 servings!! It was only 1/3 cup..

Not only that..you go out to these restaurants..and yeah we can super size it..and when you order something..its twice and even 3rd the size it should be..Thats why if i go in somewhere to eat..i'm getting the to go box and boxing it up and taking part of it home. I am glad that you shared that..I'd love to lose 100lbs!! And I just cant do eating anything i want..because then it'd come down to eating all the junk again. I know I'd lose control. Its just better for me to totally stay away from it. But again..thank you for sharing that..gives me hope!!

I do something similar...add psyllium to warm water then chug it.  it makes me feel full and I won't graze before supper.

Years ago i did a diet that asked you to drink a cup of broth before supper - that worked well too.

Good reminder, Stace!
