Abstinence - 105th Day

Two days ago, I read a book called The Seven Principles of Fat Burning by Eric Berg.  He suggests that to burn fat, you must heal your liver first.  He suggests you do this by following a very strict diet of mostly raw vegetables, fruit, and a small amount of protein.  No carbs are allowed at all.  I thought seriously of doing this, but it sounded too much like the Atkins Diet, which I feel is basically unhealthy.  He claims that the raw vegetables are "just packed" with good nutrition, but you have to eat them at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacking on them in between meals.  He named four body types, and I recognized myself as being one of them.  He even got all my symptoms right, so this is why I seriously considered the diet to lose weight.  But when I thought about how hard it is for me to stick to very strict diets as a compulsive overeater, I rejected the idea.  I weigh and measure my food now, and read ingredients on labels more and more.  I am following my family doctor's food plan, which is a very livable plan with carbs, protein, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products allowed.  I am using soy milk instead of cow's milk, because even skim milk makes me cough up phlegm after the meal.  The diet also reminds me of the food plan for Food Addicts Anonymous, where you give up coffee, artificial sweeteners, sugar, and flour.  I found that unpalatable, and this is even more so.

Breakfast
1 banana
1 cup hot 7-Grain cereal
1 cup soy milk
1 cup coffee
2 cups water

Lunch
1 Tofurky & vegan cheese sandwich with Vegenaise on sprouted wheat bread
Romaine salad with baby carrots, grape tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, 1 handful of almonds, and honey mustard dressing*
1 cup soy yogurt with Sweet 'N Low
6 dried apricots
2 cups water

Dinner
1 cup Quinoa Chowder
1 cup whole grain pasta
17 grapes
1/2 can vegetable soup
Crystal Light peach ice tea

For those who subscribe to the Atkins Diet, I mean no insult to you.  If you can lose your excess weight  without losing your health on that diet, more power to you.
