They said something on our local news this morning about restaurants being required to post the calorie content of the foods on the menu in New York City.  Even fast foods are required to do this.  It's either now or in the near future that it should be happening.  I believe the people who live there may have requested it.

My opinion is they should do this everywhere.  It might make people think twice before choosing some of those high calorie items.

Most of the fast food joints do post that - like Burger King, McD's anyway. I like it, but I am not so sure most people care when they go out what they choose.

California has similar laws, and the enforcement piece is what is hard to carry out. If a restaurant just slaps up some nutritional info, regardless of how accurate, they meet the law, too.

I guess I feel that we have a large responsibility personally; for me, I do not go out to eat much. And, at the same time, yes, restaurants will do well to begin to appear more health conscious. I think us Boomers will expect more healthy choices. I do!

The problem is, how many people really care? The numbers do not help us think it is changing much.

It looked different how they post it.  Like it will list the Big Mac and then right below it is the calorie content.  In St. Louis you have to request a pamphlet that lists the nutritional info.   If they do post it, it's definitely not right on the menu display.

I agree with you completely as far as how accurate it is.  I'm sure when they analyze the food for the calorie content it is more well drained, etc.  I just assume it's more than what it states.  Your right, people are just better off staying home!
