oh.my.GAWD!!!!!

You look amazing. I don't think the skinnage is all that bad - you are wearing a swim suit on the freakin internet, 'kay? wow.

In reading your thread...you are now a size 16? I think you are so dinky. That surprised me.

Congrats, and this has been hard fought, Shari. You've had your share of health issues. Such a trooper.

I wore a swimsuit on the internet at 368 pounds, too, you know. I don't have a lot of secrets.

The skin's really really bad-- it's a lucky shot. I'll share THOSE pics with you some other time. It's a tight swimsuit and holds up the pannus nicely. I'm lucky to be small-waisted so it looks like there's a figure-- hell, I'll take it.

The 16's because I have to cram all the flubbery stuff in my pants too. BAH!

Your face looks so SKINNY!  Look at those collar bones.  Your energy level compared to before must be through the roof.   I hope all your health problems have disappeared.

You seem so committed to your new way of life as you should.  Would love to know your secret to fixing your head with the pre-op and post-op eating habits.  Did you mourn the loss of food that had to play a big role in your everyday life?

Keep up the good work, you look AWESOME!!

Brenda

I miss the freedom of being able to eat whatever I want whenever I want-- which I did literally all my life-- but the cost of that "freedom" wasn't free, if you know what I mean. I have this killer peanut butter that I am craving madly-- I have a spoonful a day-- but I want to tear that jar up like nobody's business!

I actually eat as much or more than most of you, apparently. I still have cake and sweets on occasion (had half a piece of unbelievable chocolate torte with mousse and ganache last week!**** cream every day, pizza, burgers-- I fix them differently than I would have pre-op, but it's teh same ol' stuff I always loved.. The only things I just don't do are the ones that did me in-- McDonalds, pasta, rice, thick breads, potatoes, chips.

Today's a good example: I'm having greek yogurt with cinnamon and pumpkin and some Kashi, a salad with chinese chicken in gravy and bleu cheese, some turkey jerky, jello with whipped cream, a mini wheat pita toasted with peanut butter, a couple of slushies, and a flatbread pizza with sliced meatballs and melty farmers cheese-- and a nightcap of homemade strawberry cream cheese ice cream! It's not so shabby, you know?

The thing is, I prepare everything myself so  can maximize flavor and protein and minimize unwanted carbs (and to a small extent fat). I eat 900 calories a day, but get in 100+g of protein-- which is no small feat. The vast majority of the work for me in in the planning and preparation. But you pay for convenience.

My head is not fixed. I am an addict for life-- the surgery in no way stops the cravings for food, just puts a limit on how much I can ingest, at least in theory-- I very rarely eat more than 4-6 oz at a shot so I don't use the pouch limits much. At this point, I am also not malabsorbing much-- that slows to almost nothing as your intestines "reboot" and become more efficient. It's still more or less all me, with a safety cushion in case I lose it.
