How do you tell? It's in their body composition (visible loss of muscle tone), skin quality, and other ways. I wouldn't say I can know for sure unless someone tells me they had WLS, but the signs are usually there. I personally believe WLS should only be for the supermorbidly obese. You were there, it seems, but with 140lbs under your belt, you've proven you can do it....seems the only reason you consider otherwise is to lose at a more rapid pace. Is there a reason for that? Or just impatience?
I started with 150-180 lbs to lose. It's slow, but I've learned to accept that. 50lbs a year is more than acceptable and healthy...but I'm also healthy at my current weight. A lot of factors can influence your decision. Anyway, you could try the bar, but again, why not use real fiber to accomplish that? If you're feeling hungry, I would review what your fat and protein intake are and if they're too low, see if there's caloric room to add more in. Fat and protein and fiber will keep you full. If you feel hunger, you're either too low on those and/or calories....
