My surgon sent me to the nut who put me on a low carb diet, much like the one you live on after surgey, protein first (80 grams/day), vegtables and fruits second. 30 grams of carbs max. I did so good on this I've postponed surgery. I will have to eat this way for the rest of my life aftr surgery anyway so why not start now?
I drink a 100cal/20 grams of protein drink for my 2 snacks and eat mostly meats, fish and cheeses. Lots of green vegatables and only a few fruits. I haven't gotten hungery and I lost 17 pounds in 2 months. It took a few weeks to figure out how to eat without breads, tortillas and pasta and rice. Sometimes I miss them but I'm not hungery so it's not so bad.
Good luck. This is a major lifestyle change but it works.

I lost 68 pounds before my RNY by dropping to about 1200 calories a day and seriously limiting my carbs, adding light exercise. It came off quickly and easily. Good luck to you!
