Well, I am glad to hear everyone is still doing well.  I am a little concerned with gaining weight back when starting the second week.  I will be so disappointed.  I am actually going to try to stay away from the scale for a couple of days at a time....it will be challenging.  I am in the same boat with having to start week two on a midweek day.  I may just wait til next Monday, but haven't decided yet....my book still isn't here and it is really frustating, but I am trying to just take every day at a time.  Having all of you out there to help is so nice!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks for the ticker link....I was so excited to start mine today!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Yep, if you are a scale watcher like me, you would be better off to avoid the scale the second week. I was down 7 pounds and put back on two when I reintroduced carbs but I know from previous experience that it don't stay. You will flucuate at first until the body rebuilds it's trust that it will be fed and not starved. You will gain and lose the water weight or as Wendy calls it (glycogen weight) but the end result will be a fat loss. Many people give up on carb cycling because of the daily weighing but it does end in a nice loss if you can past the daily weighing. I plan to make a chart and put my week end weight each week so I can pattern the weekly lose but my main concern is my end of month weight each month.
My daily weigh in was like this, I lost 7 pounds the first week, then day 2 of week two I was up 2 pounds, now today (day three of week 2) I have lost one of the two pounds I was up, but after today, a baseline day, I will probably be up again until carb down again. The end result is what counts.

Everybody get off the scale!  Once a week is plenty.  Judge, instead by how your clothes fit.

I agree... Get off the scale!  You will make your self  CRAZY!!!!  You did not put it on in a week or two so it will take some time to come off.  It's just a number anyway.  If you weigh every day you will get discouraged and quit just before the diet kicks in good.  Put the scale out of site and weight on the first day of the month; just so you can give yourself a pat on the back for the weight loss.  If you watch it go down a few pounds then up a couple - a couple times a week it's all head games that way.  Here is what helped me put the scales away.  I measure my waist.  Then calculate my BMI .  I know what size my jeans are.  When they get too big and I jump for joy IF they fall down around my hips ...  Then I weight and remeasure my waist and every 25 lb. loss I refigure my BMI.  If you want to watch numbers everyday-  watch the carb count and the fiber count.  There is where all the magic is.

A solution for those who need to weigh daily, or who are disappointed with weekly weigh-in's that don't show much loss.....Weigh each day (same time/naked), then add all 7 weights from the week together and divide by 7.  This gives you your loss for the week.....

This is a strategy i learned about that helped people who were on diets where they only lost a pound or two a week.  They would be frustrated at their weekly weigh-in when it reflected no loss, slight loss, or gain---but b/c we fluctuate, you may be on the upswing of a fluctuation (body fluids, hormones etc) but you actually did loose 2 pounds.

Hope that wasn't too confusing!!!!!!!

Hi all:

I am currently doing my 3rd day of week one. God.. it is so painful .. .especially for people like me... I m a big fan of carb. Anyway... I couldn't find the book. All the books are gone in whole SF area. Could any one tell me if I m allowed to drink diet soda? It doesn't seem to have any carb.

Hello everyone.  I was so thrilled to find you all on a search engine when I was looking for the book, "Crack the Fat Loss Code.  I read the article in First magazine as well and my husband and I just started three days ago on Monday.  He lost 10 lbs by the end of day two, but gave me a scare when he called me from work to pick him up and asked me to bring his blood pressure medicine. He had worked a 15 hour day doing maintenance in 90 plus degree weather.  He hadn't planned on working beyond 10 hours and had nothing to eat between noon and 9 p.m.  He said he had drank plenty, but I think between the heat and the length of time between meals caused his blood sugar to drop (he's also on glucophage sp?) .   So I got him home and checked his sugar and it was actually a bit high 206 I believe, but his blood pressure was 110/70!  I couldn't believe it.  I've never known his BP to be that low since we married 12 years ago.

I have lost 6 lbs in three days and feel very good. We both need to lose 100 lbs so we have a ways to go, but I feel this new way of eating will afford us the opportunity Atins has not and that's letting us have carbs every other day.   I have ordered the  book and it should b here any day, but I am familiar with Atkins so I figured I could do week one before the book actually arrived.  Tonight we're having steaks on the grill, stuffed mushrooms and salad.  Yee haw!  Good luck everyone.

Hello everyone, I too am new to this site and have been reading the past posts to catch up.  I just started today and it really looks like a plan I can stick with more easily than some I have tried in the past.  I read the article in First also but am glad I was lucky enough to get the last book at Books A Million this morning.  I wish all of you waiting on books good luck.  From my experience in the past shippers tend to use the book rate for shipping books as it is a lot cheaper but WAY slower so maybe this is why it is taking so long.

I have a couple questions/clarifications if anyone can help me.
1. The way it sounded to me about salad dressing was that we need the oil for our fat.  If some of you are using no fat sprays isn't this defeating the purpose?
2. I saw a post about having tomatoes in Week 1 but don't see them on the food list until Week 2 so I just thought I would mention they are not allowed until then (I can't wait as I love them!)
3. How many extra veggies in a day should I be eating?  Not that I have much choice but one thing I read said you shouldn't need to snack between meals but another said eat all of those veggies when you want.  What are you guys doing?
4.  Mamajuju, what are you stuffing the mushrooms with, that sounds delicious!

Nice to meet everyone and thanks for the great info!

Diet soda is allowed but don't go overboard because of the chemicals in it.
