Congratulations on doing the plan!  I've worked in healthcare food & nutrition mgmt.  I can attest that most dieticians will teach you about nutrients, not how the body can lose fat.  I've been obese since I was 3 and I've lost 75 lbs so far.   I've never stuck to anything this long (year)or lost this much.  Be sure to take a multi vitamin & mineral with this plan.

It is very important that you follow the plan and do not cheat at all on week 1.  That means that you do not even put a piece of candy in your mouth and spit it out!  Week 1 is the hardest but it's only 7 days and you never have to do it again.  It's really not that bad and does help stop the sweet cravings.

If Barnes & Noble is out of the book, you can get it on Amazon.com or from www.nutritionbootcamp.com.  If you get it there, Wendy will autograph it for you.  However, Amazon is a *****eaper.

Hello everyone! I am on day 11 and so far so good! I lost 11 pounds the first seven days. As of today I am only down 9 however I'm thinking that my body needs to reajust for a day or two as it's probably in shock that it was fed food with actual substance to it.

Yesterday's supper was soooooo well worth the 10 day wait for my very first carb up day. I savoured every single mouthful and was able to stop after I'd finished a moderate serving. Today was of course then a carb down day and I've been reading that some did not like the carb down days. I find it just fine and I'm actually shocked that I've still got the attitude that I think I can follow through with this particular program.

My husband is quite thin and he would love to bulk up so on Monday (day 8) we both headed out to the garage where my son has housed his new Bowflex and my husband is doing the same routine as I am, hopefully to slowly bulk up a bit. It's great to have the support and someone to work out with (even though our long term goals are completely opposite).

Just knowing that there is a cheat day coming (once a week) is what is probably going to keep me motivated. If I enjoyed "carb up day" that much I can't imagine when I'm allowed to cheat and eat what I want! I'm anticipating that by then I won't even want to really cheat as much as I would love to in these early days because hopefully I'll be feeling even better than I am already.

The change in energy is awesome and I truly feel like my body is getting smaller (already!) I want to continue checking the blog every day to see how others are making out. One thing that is unfortunate is that I live in Alberta, Canada and I can not get ahold of Ezekiel bread so I'll have to find something else to use.

Someone had questioned on a serving size and my understanding of the program is that when you are told to eat a certain food (and it doesn't mention portion size) that you eat whatever the packaging tells you is a serving. Not sure if that's correct but it's working so far.

Good luck everyone and for those of you stuck in the middle of the first week.....close your eyes and ride out the waves because it is definately worth it so far.

Day 4 of Crack the Fat Loss Code and I think we're in the home stretch!  I'm down 6 pounds and today was my tough day.  The headache and lethargy came today so I'm going to curl up with a cup of herb tea.  I find I'm really missing fruit - had no idea how much I actually ate!  Nestea has new single serving flavours for bottled water and they are SO much better than Crystal Light.  It's sweetened with Splenda and according to Wendy, that's okay on this plan.  No problems getting in all my water with a couple of those a day.  Anyone have tips for next week.  I was looking forward to adding the carbs but since I read some postings here I'm a little apprehensive..... I better keep the scale away and only get on there once a week... AFTER a carb down day :-)

Hi KittyKat,

I just joined so I could ask questions about this plan.  I got my book and I am going this weekend to get all my supplies.  I was wondering what kind of protein shake you found with that low carb count?  I have Kashi Go Lean and thought I'll just use that...until I read the carb count.  Holy cow!!! 27 grams or something like that!  YIKES, no wonder I wasn't losing anything!

I am a memeber on sparkpeople and I have searched for someone doing this plan.  Nadda, there were a couple of women, but I don' t think they are doing it any longer.  Not a lot of info out there.

Anyhow, would love to hear any tips to get me through week one.  I no it is going to be tough because I really am a carb junkie.  BIG TIME.  I know for me, prep is key.  But, I really want  it badly this time.  Really bad.

Hi Lady75

Good for you for having the drive to start this.  If you really stick to it you will see the scale drop every day!  It's SO motivating.

The protein powder we're using is from Walmart. It's in the big white containers, black lid, says "Designer Whey" and has a gold medal winner sticker on the Chocolate flavour and the word PROTEIN in very large white letters.  It's not the greatest, but then again, no protein powder really is.  This is better than Myoplex in my opinion.  The sugars are 2g and I know the book says to stay at 1g.... but the carbs are 3g instead of 6g so I figure it's okay.  We (my husband and I) are losing like crazy so it must be okay.  I'm down 8lbs and he is down 10!  So exciting.  Two more days of hell :-) and then the carbs come back slowly.  Can't wait.

What gets me through the day is making really good meals so I don't feel deprived.  I just can't do the eggs in the morning so I have a shake and drink it on the way to work.  I hard boiled a bunch of eggs and I put one whole one in a salad for the next meal (and a couple whites if I'm really hungry - toss the yolk or feed it to the dog) and that seems to work okay... little cheese and a couple sprays of dressing and it's quite good.  I've been making lots of steak salads and those are big hit for both of us.  I also take a piece of chicken or turkey breast deli meat and put a bit of cream cheese (it says "cheese" in her book so I figured I'd see what happened if I tried it) and a dill pickle spear inside and roll it up.  I have 3 of those with some veggies and it's a good snack that makes me happy as there is some crunch in there and it tastes good.  I use the philladelphia onion cream cheese so there is more flavour.  Make sure you count your carbs and stay at or under 20.  Also I got some individual Splenda pkgs and I sprinkle one of those over my cottage cheese and some cinnamon and it's really good for a snack when you want something sweet.  I also exist on tea.  Oh yes, and Nestea just brought out a whole bunch of single serving drink sweeteners (like Crystal light but they taste WAY better because they're made with Splenda).  So it's no problem getting in all the water. I'm a compulsive eater for sure, but if I have something beside me to drink then I'll have that.

I hope that helps.  I was wondering if Jeri was still checking in on this site as I wanted to ask her what the deal with milk is?  When do we get to bring that back in our lives?  The book doesn't address it at all so I'm not sure what to do there.  If you figure it out please let me know!

Good luck to you this week.  I'll try to check the postings to see how you're doing and offer some words of encouragement!  I'm making cabbage rolls for the next weeks.  We are allowed rice and lean beef so I'm just going to up the beef, lots of garlic and some onion.  If you look at the recipe for turkey taco salad there is tomatoe in there so I'm going to use the same proportion and a little water to make it carry.  I'll let you know how that goes.

Cheers,
Cathy from Yukon.

Hello,
I just read Wendy's book and will start Monday. Thought I would look on line to see what I could find out and enjoyed this blog. I like that you are supportive of each other and try to figure out the best way to accomplish your goals. I want to lose 50 lbs and like everyone else have tried everything and even made up my own. Have gotten down twice to ideal weight so know it's possible. Just harder as you get older. Seems my body is pretty happy as is. Since all my friends are tired of me going on diets I figured this might be the place to brag and struggle with like minded people. I was lucky someone passed me the book and dared me to do it with her so on Monday, the challange begins. I hope not to let myself down and to encourage those who start after me............................

Hi
I saw this in the Woman's World magazine and it just seemed like a really easy plan.  I bought the book and have been reading it.
I am on day Four and have lost about six pounds.  About a month prior I threw out all the "sugar" goodies in the house and had lost about 13 before I even started this.
I've also joined Curves and am working out three times a week.
I am NOT a huge meat eater, mostly like the turkey breast and turkey sausage.  I'm going to have to try the "taco salad" and spice it up bigtime.
The first three days were the hardest.
I'm also a huge coffee drinker and I'm shocked at how fattening half and half is.  Two grams of carbs for two tablespoons and I love coffee really creamy.  Just this alone will kill me.  I'm trying to drink it black with splenda instead.  ANY suggestions for getting over this or something better to use than half and half?
I am also nervous about starting week two on Monday.   I'm afraid of gaining weight back.
This is the first time in like ten years that I've committed to a diet/exercise program.  I need to lose about 80 pounds.

Hi,
It sounds like you are on your way. I'm a huge cola drinker so yup, it's gonna be hard. There are lots of good ideas here on what to eat and where to get stuff you can so that's helpful. I talked my friend into joining this site so she can keep up and have a way to vent if I'm not around. Stress is the big reason for eating so holidays will be tuff to get through but I feel hopeful. Good luck everyone and thanks for letting me be part of this huge loss!

Okay, so I made it six days eating low carb .... Saturday PM my willpower gave out.  I had a mocha freeze from Carvel.   Felt like total crap from the sugar afterwords, thought I was going to puke!
Today I was much more compliant and really tried to focus on not beating myself up for the slip up... Have to remember this is a journey

Willpower where is it when you need it. We need a hot line......i'm about to eat, come lock me up till I calm down. Wouldn't that be great! Anyone remember the Flinstone cartoon episode where he signed up to go on a diet and if he tried to eat he had people popping out of the oddest places and grabbing the food away...I would not have a problem with that.

I told my friends you see me with something I shouldn't have just knock it out of my hand. I went tonight after work and loaded up my house with everything you could have the first week. Bought containers so I can cook once in the morning and have my meals ready to go. Have got my support group ready to get me over the hump you are suppose to go through.
We shall see. I also made a chart so I can write out my meals and the time for the month, I figure it's all in the details.

Hey Phyllis if you are reading this I also went out and bought the book and two Low Carb cook books. so get ready lady, we are going to be slim and trim by March which is my goal. SuzyQ18 hang in there...........
