Nice to see you at both places, on the other site I am Bailey43 I think. Geez forgot my own name :)
Anyway hope to see others join over there also.
I had a little slip yesterday at the family reunion. It was a baseline day and I was suppose to have a small carb at lunch but they had no proteins to go with it other than hotdogs off the grill and I absolutely hate hotdogs. So I had two tables of carbs to chose from and I was starving. That goes to show you that we need to not assume there will be the right foods for us at any given place. I had a small helping of taco salad which had doritos in it and twp thin slices of cheese and some grapes. Trust me, that was the best choice I could make here. We stayed six hours so I got extrememly hungry again later and had spaghetti salad, ten chips and a slice of watermelon. I am so upset that there was no veggie tray, no burgers, very limited cheese etc.. it was all carbs literally. At least I left the entire dessert table alone.
So basically I ended up with two carbup days in a row which is not good. Had I known the situation, I would have switched my carb up day for Sunday instead and at least planned the carbs but even then, it is a carb=up day not a cheat day and the worst part is the food I did eat was not all that good. Not even worth the forced cheat.
When I got home, I went straight to the store and bought an insulated lunch pail with small containers and ice packs for the next outing so I can take my own protein drink, cottage cheese etc..
The worst thing is that I woke up this morning just starving, it is as if my body is saying that was fun let's do it again. So I will probably be fighting the hunger and cravings all day.
Beware my friends and plan ahead. Needless to say the scale was up this morning. :(
But Wendy says that life happens and to just get back on plan according to schedule, so although I want to do a carbdown day or even a carb deplete day, I will follow schedule and do my baseline day today and wait until tomorrow to do my scheduled carbdown day.

Hello every one, I just joined today because I too picked up the First Magazine last night and will start the program today. I gained 85lbs during my pregnacy with my son and 4 years latter I still have 45lbs to go. Its been a long 4 years. 4years worth of jym memberships and diets embarassment and disapointment. I hope this works. I am on vaction this week (at home) and hopefully this will allow me to devote all time and energy to week 1. I have not gotten the book yet will go to the library today or download tonight. in the mean time I will use the sample menue from first and the ones you all provided to get me through day one. Its 8 am and I had planned on making my breakfast at 7am. The kids and I are going to Carowinds(local theme park) at 10 and I want to make sure I get my mid morning meal in also. Anyway wish me luck I am so blessed to have found you all. Thanks! Mandy
Hi everyone- I have been reading your posts and wanted to tell you that I just started this diet following First magazine's menu for the first week, I am almost done with day 3, and have lost 3 pounds already! So far I feel great. I am waiting for my book to arrive still. Can anybody tell me if I can have caffeine and am I supposed to be exercizing? I really like this diet so far! Everybody here seems to be doing well, too!
In reply to healthy 75s question I am pretty sure you can have coffe no sugar. I got the book yesterday afternoon its verry helpful. Also if you have not been to the other site that Deb (janik)provided in a previous message above it is also very helpful and can help you get through till your book arives. Today is my 3rd day of week one. I will only weigh my self on mondays so I am not sure if I have lost yet. I did not weigh my self this moday I forgot but I did weigh my self yesterday and I am right at 188lbs. I thought I was 180 but this is no surprise to me. I have had alot of time off this summer and have been spending alot of time with family eating. Any way have you tried to exercise yet? I went to the gym last night and it was unusualy hard for me. but then again I am used to having a home made smootie of yogart banana and berries before hitting the gym in the morning. I have not yet come across any exercise specifics in the book yet other than its important. She did mention resistance exercise and she did keep stating that it is important during the 2nd week when you get back some energy. So I would say mild exercise this week if you feal up to it. Good luck
Hi Suzanne!
Yes! In fact I am a teacher!!! I teach 4th grade Inclusion!! I oversee my students with special needs when they are included in regular instruction and then I give them lots of tutoral help to reinforce things we've learned. Basically, I team-teach math and language arts most of the day with 2 extraordinary general ed teachers and spend the rest of the time reteaching with my students and I LOVE it!!!!
I guess I am not going to worry too much about the 26 carbs thing. My husband said that he was impressed by my obedience to this plan so far and he gave me a big pat on the back! I will just make sure that I read the label better! Doh! I am a huge fan of carbs and sugar - I think I was almost addicted. I am a mindless "grazer" and will pop anything in my mouth! I am very excited about this new eating lifestyle. I needed more sustainable energy. For most of June, I needed a morning nap and a small cat nap in the afternoon. I was sleeping a lot even though I was exercising daily. I think it was my glucose spiking and crashing all day long!!!
I assume you are on summer vacation, too? :)

Hey Suzanne,
Just wondering what is a self-contained teacher? Also just thought I'd let you know I have a 9 year old daughter going in to 4th grade this year. I realy do appriciate all that teachers do. My daughter had an awfull time with reading last year and if it were not for some fantastic teachers she propably would not have made it to 4th grade. We have been reading all summer in hopes that she will come up unother level or two so maybe this year will be a breeze.
