natural ways to control thyroid!
I found this on the web...supplements to help maximize "normal" thyroid readings. Just think it's interesting. Feeling a bit whiny today...weigh in was 2# up. And recognizing areas of growth in my eating patterns lately...not eating enough during the day then kind of eating too much at night. duh....
AND hate that my body is so difficult and tweaky. Just this one hour today I will hate it, then I will move on.

"5-HTP: Sleep is essential for helping the adrenal glands recover their health. It should not be taken by anyone taking an SSRI type of antidepressant. The SSRI medication will react very poorly with 5-HTP and this could be dangerous. Typically, dosage is adjusted as follows: start with 50 mg.; if after three nights sleep is not obtained with this dose, increase to 100 mg. Keep increasing the dose by 50 mg every three nights until you either obtain good sleep (stay at that dose) or until you reach a maximum dose of 500 mg. Tablets are available in 50 mg and 100 mg size. Eventually you may try to reduce the dose. If you wake up sleepy, try taking 5-HTP earlier in the evening or reducing the dose. If you have not used 5-HTP before, you may want to start with the 50 mg size. Once you know your best dose, you may wish to use the 100 mg size capsules. "
Well son of an itchy mosquito! I've been taking my 5-HTP in the mornings! I already take a handful of pills at night perhaps I should add 3 more. What the hay. I'm at 150mg of 5-HTP and haven't noticed any differences. I'm taking it for my mood. I'm sick of being so negative and unpleasant all the time. If this doesn't work then I'll be seeing a psych.
As far as the rest of it goes I think I'll just have to stick to my prescription drugs. That's just way too many supplements for one person to be taking! Besides, I get most of it in my daily vitamin.
yeah, i wouldn't take that volume either. Just thought it was intersting.
I went the 5htp route, eh not so much help in my case. I hear it is great for those who have sweet tooths, so whaddya think? You are about the biggest Sweet Monster I know! My younger DD is too, I always tease her and say she eats a junkie's diet, all coke and twinkies and crap. Yup, she is fat. She is 29.
I have been flirting with getting good B complex vitamins. I know they are water soluble, so no toxic effects should build up.
I take fish oil tabs and a pretty hearty daily. Also take chromium supplements at noon; maybe my imagination, but I do think it helps level out blood sugar and hunger issues in the late afternoon, which is my worse time.
Huh.. Never heard that about 5htp. Now that I think about it my sweet cravings have dwindled a bit. I haven't had anything sweet since Saturday and normally I'm craving something daily. I turned down a BF blast yesterday without any thought. Maybe it is working? We'll see.
I'm on vacation next week. I'm heading the LA for the weekend, then to vegas, and grand canyon then to phoenix to finish off the week and fly back home on the 5th. As usually I'm not going to refrain from anything on vacation. If I crave it, I'm eating it. :) I'll continue the 5htp and we'll see how the sweets go. :P
I've been contemplating fish oil and increasing my niacin. I already take so many damn pills the thought of more bothers me but I want to get my cholesterol down. My triglycerides are way down from where they were. So atkins is helping there but my LDL is still borderline. HDL rose sum but was washed by a rise in LDL as well. Doc wants me on lipitor. I told him to shove it up his arse. I ain't taking no statins. I can do it naturally.
