I will phase out the evening soy milk by next week. That way, I'll be completely following my doctor's diabetic diet of 1400 calories.

Abstinence Day 6 - from my journal
So I am learning that I have to eat less even though I am not eating compulsively in order to see and feel a change. Eating so much of a volume of food during one period still seems compulsive and not at all abstinent to me. Next week, I will write a food plan and follow that to really be safe and truly abstinent. Eating food at random even just during breakfast, lunch, and dinner is like playing Russian Roulette
Breakfast
Large Duncan Donuts iced coffee with 3 splendas and scoop of Benefiber
1 cup of oatmeal w. 1 packet of splenda
1/2 of med banana
Lunch
1 medium pinkberry soft frozen yogurt with fresh rasberries, blueberries, & strawberries
1 Ranch Grilled chicken McDonald's wrap w. sprinkle of cheddar cheese and lettuce
Dinner
1/2 cup of Brown Rice
1/2 baked chicken breast
1 cup of string beans
1 coconut frozenfruit bar
Lots of water, SF Tang, and Crystal lite
Good luck Kitties
zee, it is a confusing journey for those of us who consider ourselves compulsive overeaters.
I try to educate by saying that many of us had no idea whatever on how to eat - in my own case, actually afraid to eat regularly, so my pattern was starve, then binge. It seems simple to type that out and for others to read it, but in my head, I could not get it right. Could not seem to even out my food intake.
This is why OA counsels newbies to eat meals, eat whatever amount, whatever food at mealtimes only. Will that help drop weight? No, it is only to teach a person who ate constantly, all day long, meals plus whenever, to eat within the beginnings of confines.
After that, it is up to the individual to then modify eating the right foods, in the right portions.
The whole food absitinence thing has to be defined by individual. Maybe for YOU, being abstinent is not eating fast foods, for example.
For ME, it is not eating foods off my daily plan or eating the foods i planned in larger amounts. I can plan to have ice cream occasionally. When I eat too much of that ice cream, I broke my abstinence. If I di**** up on a day that I did not plan for it, i broke my abstinence.
Hope that helps! I went to OA 3-4x a week for 4+ years and wish I could say I learned it all...it is a constantly evolving journey!
