Docs appointment

I went to my cardiovascular appointment today.  The doctor had an emergency surgery to do so I meet up with him on Monday.  But I had another sonogram done at there office.  This lady actually found something!  She found three veins not working in my left leg.  One was in my groin, which she said right there would cause me trouble down to my ankle.  It was suppose to be between 3 to 5 cm?? and mine was 7.5.  She said she could tell that it was trying to "work" and not doing it's job.  The other two were lower down, one on my calf and one in the middle of my leg I think?? or both on my calf ?? , can't remember now.  Anyways, I'm excited she actually talked to me about it!!  She showed me everything she was doing and told me what she was looking for so I would know when I saw it.  Now I'm just praying this is it, and the doc can do something about it.  It sounds very minor, she said one person had 42 veins not working!!!  Talk about OUCH!  Just thought I would share my good news.  Finally maybe making some progress!!  Now I just have to wait until Monday. EDIT:  I took a darvocet a few hours ago for the first time.   I'm itching every where, lol I'm tired from the meds but I'm so itchy I can't sleep!  Anyone else have this prob?  Can't decide if it's worth relieving the pain or not I'm so itchy.lol

Good post, bad post. I'm sorry to hear about the veins not working but I am sooooo glad they are figuring it out. It's about time. I keep telling my mom to go to a specialist for her asthma but she doesn't listen. I mean PCP are good don't get me wrong but they tend to treat symptoms. Specialist dig for answers and treat diseases. There's a HUGE difference.  Good luck, Holly and keep us posted. Beth

Thanks.  Yea, I'm starting to be a believer of specialists myself.  I tell ya, I'm getting really tired of doctors.  Don't get me wrong, they do everyone a lot of good, but it seems like they just don't know when to give it up and say ...."Why don't we have you see a specialist".  It's like they think they know it all.  I'm not sure, I'm a little mad at my doctor about it atm.  So I say yes, tell your mom to go.  What's it going to hurt? NOTHING!  lol omg I'm itching everywhere Beth!!!  This med made me tired and itchy...UGHH! lol I'm trying to wait until it wears off so I can sleep.

I am new so I do not know if you have been having problems before but I am happy your so positive about it and help is on the way. Puting a name to something and knowing what it is instead of a ghost your fighting with takes it's power away from you .   Good Luck and I wish you well Gloria

Thanks.  Yes, a name,  I would love a name instead of a "I think".  It's been four years of battling with doctors.  This time I'm a little worried I'm jumping the gun.  I've thought this before, that the doctor has figured it out, then find out other wise.  So keep your fingers crossed! :)

Watch that itch, hun. It could be an allergic reaction. If it's that bad please call and tell them. Beth

So glad you're finally getting some answers!  Hope he comes up with a solution for you on Monday.  Sorry...I thought you said you were going to a cardiology appt. yesterday, not cardiovascular...my bad.  Forgot you had this appt. scheduled. Good luck!

Holly, it is late now, but read the side effects to watch.  I'm pretty sure itching deeply is not good!

Holly, I spend a lot of time on the plastics board and itching is a very common reaction to some pain medicines.  Call and have your doc prescribe something different.  In the meantime, take some Benadryl for the itching. Mary

YEAH! Finally you got something to go on!!!!!  It's about darned time! You know, my dad always said we get the "quacks" up here (at least in SE AK)- cause nobody that is worth a darn wants to LIVE up here :)   I know we have some good ones though ;) SOOO glad you are getting some answers!! I know you are feeling better just knowing there is someone ELSE that knows you have this problem!  I remember the FEAR I had when they FINALLY (after 13.5 months!) diagnosed Tim. It was like OMG.. OPEN HEART SURGERY! I was SO SCARED!! But at the same time it was like- YES!!! FINALLY they KNOW and will DO something. Itching... sounds to me like you are having a nasty reaction. You shouldn't be itching like that. My dd reacts that way with anything but Tylenol!  Has your face/lips swollen? BE CAREFUL!! Keep that Benadryl on hand!
