What did you eat today?
Hey Leah,
No, I did this with the lap-band. I had surgery on 04/25/07, a little over a year ago. I did try WW, but it didn't help me at all. Not one bit. So I'm doing this on my own. The lap-band is a helpful tool, as far as portion control is concerned (most of the time - if you noticed, I had like two lunches at once yesterday, and my lap band didn't stop me whatsoever, so it doesn't work 100%).
I went on WW to try to help me speed up my weight loss process. With the lap band, I'm averaging about 3 pounds a month - that's insanely slow, in my opinion. I knew I could have been losing weight faster on my own. So that's what sent me to weigh****chers, and it was a complete disappointment. I tried for about two months, with no progress. So now I'm on my own.
If you have any specific questions, let me know. I'll be more than happy to help you anyway I can.
Ok here I go with what I wanted to ask you Janina. Do you normally skip breakfast? What kind of granola bars are you eating? What kind of sausage are you going to have. I ask this, cuz once you answer I had a few suggestions and ideas for you. Let me know!!! not that I am an expert, but I have devoted my life now to being healthy and on my own I have lost 87 pouds since November. So I just want to share some things wth you.
Ok here goes. Maybe, just maybe, you aren't getting enough calories, and the calories you are getting have quite a bit of carbs in them. Also, I don't know that it is such a good idea to skip breakfast even with surgery. That is what gets our metabolism going in the mornings!! I only say this because, I try to get in a good mix of nutrients, like protein, carbs, good fats. There is hardly any protein in what you ate today? How do you have energy to keep going?? I am not trying to butt in, just want to help you, so please don't take it that way AT ALL. What if you had the breakfast for breakfast? I know that is the hardest meal for me to get in,so I take a low sugar yogurt and like a banana with me to work and it eat it about 10. I don't go to wor****il 9. Then, I have little small things throughout the day. That way, I keep my metabolism up and I don't get crazy hungry. I am not trying to do low carb, but I know taht when I do less sugar, then I lose more. Please don't take this post the wrong way. That isn't my intention at all. I am here to help you just as much as I need help. So, what are your thoughts?
Here is what I ate today-
B- yoplait thick and light yogurt(which are way more filling than regular yogurt.
S- sugar free pudding pack
L- 6 inch subway club, loaded veggies, mustard, no cheese(god that is hard) on wheat
D- 3 oz grilled chicken breast with asparagus and couscous with veggies. I have to get the veggies in.

I do need more calories - that I know. I was eating not nearly enough for a while (almost doing the diet you're on). Yogurt in the mornings (but I ate regular yogurt, not light). A lean cuisine meal for lunch, and something with protein and veggies for dinner. Just wasn't enough for me. I'd have good weeks when I'd splurge on McD's or something. Crazy, but true. I don't know what's wrong with my body but it needs a lot of calories - maybe because I'm so big to begin with.
I have to find some balance. It's hard.
Oh honey. I understand. You don't think that you should eat more to loose weight. How does that make sense? I wish that there was a way that I could help you along. Have you thought about doing some low carb stuff? I know it isn't for me but it is for some. I want you to be successful at this and not get discouraged. I will help any way that I can. Keep on with the great work, eventually you will see results, I am sure of it!!!!
