This day did not go by without me taking a moment at a memorial in town here to just think about why I have this day off.  My Uncle Double died in WWI at age 18. Barely got off the ship and got killed.  My dad is a Korean war vet, my sister and brother, Gulf War. My DH is a Vietnam vet. They were among the lucky ones who came home. Salute!

I also have been thinking about this today.  Sort of sad none of us really did anything about it.  I haven't heard anyone mention it at all today.  I meant to go get a new flag to honor the men, but I was gone all weekend and didn't get around to it.  This is something I need to get better at doing.  It made me think of my father whom died almost two years ago.  He faithfully celebrated the lives of vets every year at this time.  Being in a family with so many military guys in it I feel like I need to at least carry it on, and honor them and others as well. Both grand fathers -WWII At least three uncles, I have a feeling more than that (just don't know their background much). My father -Vietnam My husband - Operation Iraqi Freedom My nephew just joined the Air force.  Two more weeks of boot camp! hehe  We're so proud of him.
