Re: motivation just to clear sumthin up
I was thinking, many of you know I am an exercise fanatic. However, just wanted to say there is a hefty percentage of time when I have to drag my big butt out that door!
This percentage will vary from time period to time period, but when it happens, I make deals with myself. Mainly, my mind trick is okay just get out and do 15 minutes, then come home. I can honestly say that 98% of the time when I have done that minimum time, I end up doing 2-4x that much: JUST BY GETTING OUT THERE!
My point is: get upright and moving toward that door. THAT is well over half the battle. The next 25% is your conscious decision to do daily exercise over your body/brain/excuses.
Does that help?
It actually works for food most of the time, too. I dish up the correct amount, then make myself wait to decide to have more. 90% of the time i do not have more. Again, this percentage will vary! LOL
Ain't that the truth! Sort of silly most of us can't seem to push ourself to that little bit of extent. What games our mind can play with us eh! :) Just like my doctor use to tell me, just PUT ON YOUR SHOES! He said the majority of the time if you just get on your shoes there is a very good chance you will actually follow through with the exercising. I've tried it, it actually works!
Now if I can just put on the damn shoes more often! :)
I too LOVE exercise. Yet there are always days when I don't feel like I could be bothered.
I agree- once you get out the door it's like suddenly 'gee this isn't so bad' and the endorphin**** and before you know it you're done.
I use the 'first this then that' technique. First walk/bike THEN cup of expresso coffee...
You're right Neecee- it is a conscious decision. I always say "Nike" to myself. You know their slogan "Just do it". No excuses!
