Karissa and I finally talked lbs today.  She didn't need nor want to know my weight--her concern is inches more than anything.  I've lost about 8 lbs for APR (TOM now, so +/-).  Anyway, she asked about my goal and I don't have a # anymore.  Given my fitness, I will have a healthy BMI around 220 (go figure) and by some accounts, healthy for me could be as high as 180-220 given my muscle mass.  I haven't fully let go of the traditional weights for my height--140-150, but, I accept whatever will come. With that said, my goal is just my best, whatever that is. She asked how much I'm averaging in weight loss.  It's about 8lbs a month, but after TOM it might be more like 10.  I did the math and come end of December, I will likely (no obstacles, I hope), weigh 192-208. Wow, talk about having to adjust your sense of self.  I just don't know me at that weight!  I got to 220 when I was 20.  Um, I weighed 190 freshman year of HIGH SCHOOL.  I just...can't imagine. So, doing your math, where will you be?

I'm hoping I will see 275 by Christmas. If it is a higher number then I have still succeeded as I am not 373 anymore. If it is lower than 275 well I just might cry but either way I know in my heart I have done what I set out to do and that's all that matters.

oh oh! i wanna play! LOL! I have several answers to that question depending on what happens. 1. If I were to lose 2 pounds a week I would be down 68 pounds. WOW! I would be 177 pounds! Woot! Woot! 2. If I were to lose at my average weekly weight loss (for the past 6 months of dieting) I would be down to 188 pounds! Woot! 3. If I can get to my short term goal weight (235) by June then we are going to TTC ASAP and all of the above numbers will be out the window for 9 months! It's fun to day dream isn't it!?!?! You must be taller than me, because I'm still "overweight" at 192 according to the charts. Other than that we are exactly the same! i was around 220 at 20 yrs old and close to 190 at high school graduation. Cheers to us for heading in a better direction in 2008!

I'm not really tall.  Just 5'6.  But my muscle mass is higher than average.  While bodyfat calculators have me at about 45% bf, I actually have 35% bf on me, and so the biometrics calculate a healthy weight would be higher for me in general.  I apparently blow traditional theories and expectations out of the water.

Good post! I have set the very realistic goal for myself of 5lb/month.  If I do that, I will be 220 by the end of the year...263 right now.  I was there for about three months about 7 years ago but haven't been below that in over 40 years!!  I'm gonna give it a try....hopefully my loss will be more consistent when I'm able to incorporate the exercise piece more. Actually, I'll be happy to weigh anything less than I am now...my original goal was 50lb by the end of the year and I started the year at 280...so that would make 230.  That would make me happy!!  I'm still trying to make my goal of 255 by Memorial Day though.  All these goals....LOL!!

Oooh, I can dream away on this one.  Past few days I've been messing around a lot with numbers.  With my current health the way it is, I've even been considering Medifast again.  LOl I can actually see Jersey cringe.haha  Nah, but wow is it tempting at the moment!  I've got to do this strict now, at least for a while.  If my gynecologist is right, then my leg pain will start disappearing if I lose weight, and i need to get a job! So..wow can I dream big? I want to be 220 pounds by Christmas!!  That means I would have to lose 2.19 pounds a week.  That's actually doable!  Would have to go cold turkey..no slip ups. If not my "dream number for Christmas", I would like to see 240 at least. I actually have a mini goal with a high expectation of 250 by September first.  Not sure how close I'll get to it, but I'm gonna try!

Oh yes I have though about this long and hard.

I want to be 259,6 pounds or less. Why? Because at that weight (approx 118 kilograms) I will have lost 40 kilograms since last year, but -more importantly- my BMI will be under 40. I will be 'just' obese in stead of morbidly so :-)

Seems to me like a very good goal to get at.

It means I should lose.... let's see...about 25 kilograms in about 30 weeks orso? is doable for sure.

25kg in 30 weeks? You are right, that is VERY doable.  Especially if you keep walking that gorgeous bub around in the pram.

Your way of thinking sounds just like my way when I started my own journey.  My goals were always very small.  I aimed at each 5kg marker- eg 115kg, 110kg... PLUS I measured loss from the highest known weight and would aim to have 'lost 5kg', 'lost 10...20kg'. PLUS I measured BMI like you are talking about- the day I was no longer Morbidly obese was SWEET, then later in the journey I remember laughing as I told my husband "I'm overweight honey!!!!" but I guess compared to MO and Obese overweight was something good.  The day I was under 100kg was one of the most memorable goals ever.

You go girl!

How'd you like that article? any help?
