I'm home from hospital
Well, I am finally home...
It certainly has been a roller coaster.
Here's my last week in overview:
Thursday last week: I had my lower body lift -8 1/2 hrs in theatre. In Intensive care. Reaction to anaethetic leaves me with extreme migraine and totally out of it. But, no nausea!!! Yeah. 4 drains.
Friday: in Intensive care morning then moved to ward. Sleeping LOTS, still having extreme migraines- particuarly at night, nasty nightmares. Sore, but had aided shower. My haemoglobin dropped to 71- the too low 'benchmark' is that haemoglobin is under 100 and that 70 generally indicates transfusion is needed.
Saturday: Showered myself! But felt very washed out, probably becasue my haemoglobin levels were had not picked up instead they dropped further to 52... so I had 3 units of blood by transfusion. Still having awful migraines and nightmares (eg death of loved ones, spiders crawling over the whole room and dangling from webs...). Back sore. Decided I was a mad cow and should NEVER have had this operation.... but knew that time would heal this.
Sunday: Improved feeling thanks to transfusion, had own shower. But tummy puffing in one area, and one of the drains flowing bit too much. Migraines still hanging in each night, plus the terrible nightmares.Back sore.
Monday: Dr decided the puffing is a haemotoma and tells me I need to back in for more surgery that night. The surgeon and anaethestist both came after a day of surgery in another hospital to operate on my after hours- that's what you want from a surgeon. More migraines/ weird dreams- Anaesthetist suggested dropping one pain relief drug and swapping to another- mild headache, and weird rather than frightening dreams. Back sore.
Tuesday: Woke up feel heaps better- realised how bad I had been feeling day before having the second surgery. Migraines finally gone!
Wednesday: Feeling great generally, but back/ thigh hurting. Physiotherapist came and worked out it was sciatica... so I am currently doing some physio- very carefully! as OKed by Plastic Suregon.2 drains came out! But other 2 still too much fluid. Back sore.
Thursday: Last 2 drains finally behave and I got to go HOME!!!!
So I kind of feel like I have been through the washing machine. But my pain levels are EXCELLENT (except for sciatic related pain) and all I need is regular parecetemol 4 hrly.
As for the results: I honestly would be happy with the way it looks now (even with the swelling) and am totally THRILLED to think it will only look better from here! My wounds are all perfect!
Thanks for the well wishes and support.

Thankyou! The 'washing machine' part is over... now I just need to hang out a while to dry!
I made hubby take some photos this morning when I had the garment off for my shower. Now I must say I am good at editting out the bruising/swelling/scars because I LOVE it already! Will post some on my profile soon.

Beth... A bikini.... hmmm. You know what? Based on 'before' I swore I would never look good enough for one. But even already the thought had crossed my mind as the results are so good. The whole bikini concept is slipping into the realm of 'maybe'. What an amazing journey this weightloss has been. I am so grateful.
