Doctors Visit

It would seem that a medication for something you have no symptoms for is a little "out there". If you do have blood sugar symptoms or tests, then do consider taking it. Unless I missed something, you have never mentioned anything about blood sugar issues, have you? Is this a doc who has known you? If so, then ask him if it really should be one or the other pill, not together.  If he is a pill doc, then I would run it by my regular doctor before i took anything else.

If your insulin levels are totally normal- Don't take  the metforman! Good Lord I can't believe family medicine docs are rx'ing metforman to non-diabetic pts. with normal insulin levels!  FYI metforman does nothing to lower blood sugar levels, it only works to lower insulin levels. My OBGYN referred me to a Endocrinologist after getting my high insulin test results. It was the Endocrinologist that put me on metforman and my new eating plan... and she basically saved my life! I was well on my way to being a type 2.
